| | This is Paris.
This is Paris sitting in his water dish.
This is Paris sitting in his water dish to let me know he is out of water.
Note: They do have other sources of water, but this was his favourite dish.

I love the picture. Very pretty kitty.
Gah this makes me want to find my digital camera. First I'm thinking I want to share my Easter table with everyone, because, well, I did a really beautiful job on it and now I want to show my pets off too.
Any other kitties you want to show us. Funny situation is optional |

| | Hmmm .... it would appear that Newton also wanted water. I guess it didn't take the 'stray' too long to figure out how our household works.

| | | We use floating candle holders as water bowls. Three tall ones and one huge short one. We did not pick this arrangement... the cats just started drinking out of them on their own.
When these run low, usually the cats jump up on the table and try to bulldoze the semi-empty holders off the table. Not easy to to with the big one, but we've been lucky so far with catching the tall ones in time. |

| | Oh, I get the message to change the water.
First, I discovered my little cat (Neko-chan) licking my toothbrush when it was wet. I don't know how long she did that before I caught her at it.
Second, when we lived in Okinawa, Kushi learned to get fresh water whenever she wanted by jiggling the facet in the kitchen sink. Back in the States, she demands that I fill the bathroom sink partially every time I use it so she can get a drink.
Third, I keep my retainers in a plastic thingy near the sink. I caught Kushi drinking out of it when I had my retainers soaking. Now I close the lid. She somehow manages to jiggle it so that water drips out the sides for her to drink.
When I had one of those zen water fountains going all the time they never touched it. Very weird.

| EWWWWWWWW!
Speaking of the retainers....
A lady on another board I frequent wrote in one day that her cat apparently lapped up her hubby's contacts - he left the case open, the cat wanted to drink the liquid, and when they checked, the contacts were gone too!

| | My cats give the usual hints - licking the bathtub faucet, pushing me over to the water bowl, etc.
Buffy doesn't care if there's fresh water in the bowl or not, he still does his morning routine.
I jump in the shower.
Buffy enters the bathroom by hook or by crook, and he does NOT shut the door behind him.
I reach out of the shower to shut the door to keep the steam in and the cold out.
Buffy curls up on the rug and waits.
I finish my shower and step out on the mat. While I brush my teeth, dry my hair, etc., Buffy licks all the water off my ankles. Once I dry my ankles and feet, he couldn't care less about me again and paws the bathroom door to get out.
Yeah, so it's kinda gross, but I haven't had to loofa the back of my heels in years.

| | When I still had Marquis I used to keep a glass of water on the night stand just for him to drink out of-he prefered it that way.
Meowlth does the shower thing-licks my feet, jumps in the tub and licks the water from the tub-I've stopped using chemical cleaners in the tub because of him.
He always likes to hang out on the edge of the tub if I take a bath-he's only fallen in once

| | When Lucy and Ethel have an empty dish, they walk to the dog water dish (usually full at the time) and use their paws to flip the dog water dish over - spilling water everywhere....
Bad kitty!

When she tips it over, at least it's contained. This has conditioned her to jump in the tub every time she's thirsty . . . no problem since we take showers. However, we were visiting my parents a few years ago and my mom, who loves to soak in the tub, had just run a bubble bath. As usual, Harley jumped in for her drink. OMG, she was mad! She doesn't like baths, especially with bubbles. It was weeks before she'd approach another bathtub, even at home. And, I never told my mom that Harley had tested the water for her.
