At my monastery they have, in the woods behind, a place called 'Goose Lake'.

There are no geese there, except two times a year. Then there are thousands of them.

It is on the migratory pattern. For the few days in the spring and the fall that the geese are there, the sound is so loud that we can't sleep.

We still have many geese up here in Ontario. They have divided into two groups 1) those that fly low and 2) those that fly high. I think the high flighers are from further north and have already begun their migration. They are up so high that I can barely seem them; I can only hear on very clear and still mornings. The lower groups appear to be practicing their formations and memorizing the landscape - they seem to stay in one area for several days as they talk quite loudly back and forth, planning their route, no doubt.
