Herding spiders

Libby The Wonder Collie is making herself crazy right this minute. At this time of year we get bunches of these weird pale grey spiders who hang out on the ceiling (until I sweep them down and take them back outside). Well, some are walking accross the ceiling right now, and Libby is barking and snapping her jaws, running in circles underneath them. She is giving them very celar instructions on where she wants them to walk, but for some reason they are just ignoring her. This is a first for her- nobody ignores the herding dog and her instincts. She keeps sitting down, putting her head on one side and whining and yipping- those wacky spiders just don't understand!

Re Herding spiders

Poor Libby!

I'm not a fan, but spiders kill other bugs so I like to keep them alive, when possible.

Re Herding spiders

Yes, Pippa, I actually like spiders. I don't like when they drop on me, but they are helpful insects, so I try to keep them alive.

This morning, #2 took Libby for a walk while #1 un-spidered the ceiling. The rest of my day ought to be more peaceful.

My grandmother had a washroom spider. She always made sure that she never swept it up. It liked to hang-out under the sink. It used to give me the oogly-wooglies, but I started to call it Charlotte and then it was okay.
