Could be cola - I know that mice can't burp, so one way to get rid of them is to set out dishes of carbonated drink.

I don't know, but the phrase "Exploding Toads Puzzle German Scientists" sounds like a mnemonic device.

What I have read since then is that scientists are now saying that crows are pecking at the toads' livers and the resulting systems failure causes them to blow up. I dunno. That sounds like a "Let's try it and see if it flies" story. Would hate to find out that there's some awful chemical or something around the area. |
