News from the 'Make Lemonade' department! After last week's disappointment, I have such good news that it makes it worth everything else.
All of my collie friends - uh, friends who own collies _ told me to just find a good breeder, check to make sure it's a reputable one, and then go with the breeder that my heart wants. Easier said than done, I am thinking. I've been looking at web pages, calling breeders, and just couldn't find anyone- except for a breeder who I loved but whose collie won't be bred for another couple of years or so.
Well, every year when the Horsemen and I go on holiday, we've passed a sign on a farm in rural Ontario. Gorgeous farm, yard full of beautiful collies- but I never remembered what the breeder was called, where it was exactly. This morning, I found her online! The collies are, collectively,
Glasgow Hill Collies, and they are my dream dogs- the woman is breeding *real* collies- big heavy coats, intelligent faces, wonderful personalities. I looked on her website, and all of the litters are already reserved.
So, on a whim, I called her. And talked for an hour and a half. She is such a fantastic woman, really warm, and we just hit it off. She took my name and info, and we are now on the reserve list- she's breeding her blue merle white collie this morning. That means that my baby collie is being made right this minute! If you're interested, you can see the mom and dad by scrolling down. Just look for
Cut to the Chase (Chase) and Wind Chill (Chili, the mom).
The puppies will be born in July, if all goes well, and assuming that there are males, we have a little sweetie coming here in September. Warning to y'all: this is going to be one heck of a long summer, and it'll be worse than if I were pregnant!
