After years of research and much study, I've finally come to the conclusion that cats are not saying "meow."

They are saying "now."

As in, "or else."

The Beast is actually a quote vocal and whiney creature. He does have "NOW!" down pat. Suprisingly, he also has a great "Hellooooo"

My mother once called me to tell me a former cat, who was staying with her, could say "hello." She then played a tape of him over the phone.

But then, that was my mother for you.

Hubby called Princess when we were on vacation in Ithaca. He talked to her via the answering machine. He was dying to know if she was listening to him.

LOL. I don't know if I've ever had a cat-like cat.

I had a Tonkinese who thought she was a princess and didn't act even remotely cat-like.

I had a no-hoper who was awful... didn't clean herself and was disgusting... the only cat I've ever not liked.

And I have Inigo, who thinks and acts like a dog.
