ACtually, it isn't raining dogs. Thank you, God. Cats are more than enough.
This morning, I was taking Libby for her first walk of the day. I love the first walk - we can go as slowly as we want. We always watch squirrels, look for new baby birds, and sniff all the new flowers.
This morning, we also got to see a crow drop a brand new baby kitten onto the grass in front of me. Libs sat, doing what she's trained to do if something unusual happens. I decided that sometimes, Nature gets her own way. Well, ok - it was really, really cute, too. Besides, Libs refused to move and just kept looking at me, and doing that collie talk thing.
Poe is jet black and has one blue eye. The other isn't open yet. She has a really loud purr and an even louder screech. In fact, if you didn't know what was making that sound in my bathroom, you'd think it was a weird bird of some kind.
#1 named her Poe. I wanted to call her 'Raven'. As in, a name like that would be auspicious. It would mean 'no more cats'. As in "Quoth the raven 'nevermore'. " #1 just rolled his eyes when I explained, and said,"Yeah, like that's going to happen". He's upstairs now cutting old sheets into bedding.
Well, what was I supposed to do? If God tosses you a kitten, you catch it. Right? |

Yes - I think ...jas...
Yes. #1 says 'crow'. Big black bird. They eat baby squirrels, raid nests and eat other baby birds, and are generally unpleasant. The one this morning was fixing to eat a new kitten. 
A man out jogging came running up to me when I began door-to-door kitten return later this a.m., and was really pleased to see that the kitten had gotten a good home. "It really bummed me out, to see a new kitten just abandoned". Of course, he said, he ddin't want a cat getting fur and stuff all over his house. I am so grateful that I like cats, fur,kids, dogs and all sorts of other stuff. It makes my house feel happy.  |

How old is the kitty? Are you going to have to bottle feed it?

And yes, we're bottle feeding her. I never bottle-fed anything except the calf I helped raise. I don't know how to tell if a kitten is hungry or just needs a cuddle, or is bored....yikes! Nursing babies did not prepare me for this. |

Anna, Alexander, Moody, king Kong, and now Poe.
Anna and Aledander are the oldest of these, we got them together and they are still called 'The Kittens'. Moody is called whatever he wants to be. The Kittens are horrified that Poe showed up and hasn't left yet. Anna has almost recovered from the arrival of King Kong. |

OMG! Poe has bonded with #1. Whenever she sees him she begins just shrieking! If she hears his voice she begins waving her paws in the air, waiting to be fed. She will take the bottle from him willingly, but the rest of us have to struggle with her. I am just cracking up - poor #1 is going to have such a hard time having a rebellion with three sibs and a lovesick cat following him around! |
