Snakes in a toybox

Yesterday, Jer and I were getting ready to go to a craft show. He was looking for his lazer light, and came walking very purposely into the bathroom where I was finishing up my hair.

"Is Dad awake?"
"No."

Panicked look in eyes. "I need Dad. Now."
"Why?" (I'm starting to get a little nervous. We don't wake Dad up unless we have to, he is not a Morning Person.)
"You don't want to know"

Rinse and repeat the last three lines several times, until he finally becomes agitated enough to say:

"theres a snake in my room"

Now, I'm the one who's panicked but attempting to stay calm. "YOU NEED TO GO WAKE HIM UP NOW."

So the 3 adventurers (Rex decided to join the game) banish me to my bedroom with stern "STAY IN THERE" comments and proceed to somehow get the snake out of Jeremy's toybox (yes he still has one) and transferred to the yard. According to later reports which I overheard, it was huge (makes me shudder just thinking about it). I'm sure it was just looking for a nice warm place to sleep....we've had mice in the house this time of year but never a freaking SNAKE!!!!!!

Come to think of it, we haven't had many mice this year...

Re Snakes in a toybox

Honey is now convinced we have the Uber Mouse in the house. (The snake is NOT coming back.) He's got mouse traps peppered all over the house, and the mouse has eaten through a couple of the glue ones (I don't like them, but occasionally, they are all that work on catching the little b@stards.)

Worthless dog does nothing about snakes, spiders, OR mice. Just lays around and eats his kibble. Maybe I should quit feeding him and see if he goes after M. Mouse!

EEEEKKKK

I'm glad to hear the snake was relocated.

first problem though, you are expecting a dog to do a cat's job

second problem-YOU HAVE SNAKES AND SMART MICE!!!!

I'd move. To the south pole, where I hear they don't have snakes, or mice.

Re Snakes in a toybox

Fridai, Rat Terriers are bred to get rats. They should be able to get snakes as well. Of course, Rex is not a Rat Terrier, but I think dingoes should be able to be trained to hunt down mice or snakes. Unfortunately, his experience with snakes is to chase them TOWARD Mom and then see her running away screaming. What a fun game that is!!!

Hubby was very pleased last night that he did catch one mouse...but we don't know if it was the Uber Mouse or not.
