| | Now I'm really worried | | Tate still isn't eating. Brian called the vets office and explained that he's more active but still very conjested and coughing up a lot of gunk. They gave us another appointment for tomorrow because the vet it double booked this afternoon. The receptionist said she would tell the doctor our concerns and call us back. She called back and asked if he's been eating. When Brian said "no", she said that the vet wants him back in now.
I'm glad that he's getting help. I hope they don't have to keep him overnight - the poor baby has been through so much. We can't get the meds in him so this is better, but I just can't stand the thought of him being so sick. I just lost Birdie and I just want Tater to be healthy and happy. I'm sad and worried. |

| | Re Now I'm really worried | | Oh hon....big hugs. At this point in the day, it might be best if he did stay over night....they could do another kitty IV and get him hydrated and nurished.
I don't remember that he was sick when you brought him home....is it some kind of kennel cough type thing? You might want to ask doc about Bogey and Scooter - don't want them catching Tater's sickness!!
Prayers and good thoughts your way. I'm sure he'll be better soon!!!

| | Re Now I'm really worried | | yes, we think it's just the "I came from the pound" resperatory infection, but he got it really really bad. Had a high fever. I asked the vet about Bogey and Scooter. He said that there is a good chance that they might get colds, but since they are healthy they'll get over them quick. I asked if we need to put them on antibiotics too, but he said it starts as a viral thing so there was no point in that. Taters got bad and got bacterial so he's on an RX.
He's been through so much this week. He's so sweet and he must be just stressed out. I wish he would eat. I'm already in love with him and I couldn't stand it if anything happens to him. |

| | Re Now I'm really worried | | He'll be ok, and if he's sick he won't care where he is overnight tonight. An overnight stay to get a boatload of meds might be the best thing for him right now.

| | Re Now I'm really worried | | Brian and Tater are at the vet. He should be the next appt so we'll see what the vet says. He'll call me when he knows something. Poor little Tate has been to the vet three times this week, not counting what they did to him at the shelter. He's hating it. It's costing a fortune, which is fine as long as he gets better. |

| | Re Now I'm really worried | | Brian just called.
He's not fighting the infection. He doesn't have a fever, but his sinuses are bad. His nose was crusted over so that he could hardly breath and he still has gunk in his nose.
The vet wants him to give him antibiotic shots today, tomorrow and Wed. He said we can leave him there overnight, or bring him back for the next two days. I hate to leave him there, but I don't know whats best.
I do trust our vet totally. I told Brian to ask him. If the doc thinks its better to keep Tate overnight so that they can watch him and pump fluids then ok. If it will be less stressful for Tate, I'd rather have him home, but I don't want the other two to be exposed to whatever he has.
The vet took a culture of the mucus to try to see what bacteria he has and figure out the best way to treat it.
I told Brian to do whatever the Doc says is best. |

| | Re Now I'm really worried | | aw... sounds like the Dino stuff. These infections can be hard to pin down, but they can be treated.

| | Re Now I'm really worried | | Better, with this new (third or fourth different) antibiotic. We had a few stormy days where he would have been really bad breathing-wise that he just sniffled through.

| | Re Now I'm really worried | | I'll ask the vet tomorrow when I take him back.
He is coughing stuff up and getting it out - there's just a LOT of stuff.
He's resting behind the sofa.
I think I'm getting a cold now, too. |

| | Re Now I'm really worried | | Thanks.
Poor Dear.
He slept under my bed all night which was good because I could hear him snoring and new he was ok.
I dragged him out this morning and took him into the bathroom in hopes that my shower steam might help.
I locked him in one room today because I need to be able to get him to take him to the vet and he's got sooooo much phlegm and mucus coming out of him. When I went to bring in some water I saw him climb out of the litter box, so thats good.
I brought him some tuna and tuna water - no go, but I think he can't smell it. I left the water for him, and his nice warm blanket. The poor dear is really miserable. |
