So, we've put up the *cough* Yule tree. Pixie actually seems to mostly be leaving it alone (she was horribly jealous of the one we had last year. Yes, jealous. Cats, go figure). This year we have a new problem.

Does anyone know if cats will get sick and die if they drink out of the water bowl on the tree holder? I know it's bad if they eat the needles, but I just don't know about drinking tree water. Any ideas?

I seem to remember that they can. We put tin foil over the tree stand on ours under the tree skirt. Has always deterred them. Your cats may be a different story, though.

If they can, it's got to be a very slow death. This is the third year we've had a tree, and the cats who were around that year (Anna, Alexander, Moo ) are still up and running. In fact, Moody is in the tree right now, trying to throw candy canes to the dogs.

Poe is not drinking the water, she's hanging from the strings of stars while trying to pull off the rest of the ornaments. 'Rest of' being the ones she hasn't yet managed to get to.
