| | Take your Mantis to work day | | Came in this morning to find a 6" Praying Mantis perched on the window outside my cube. ON the window, mind you, three floors up!
She's been there all day, moves around, and occasionally grooms her front claws. Very cute, with a nice brown and green cloak. Her antennae blow in the breeze. There's a thunderstorm moving in, so we are watching her carefully and hoping she can hang on a little longer.
Her name's Celine.

We had one in the garden the other day and I thought of you. I meant to tell you we got our own person Celine garden visit.

She's still hanging on. Her little claws are tucked up under her body and she's getting a workout from the wind. We check on her every few minutes (not that I know what we'd do if she blows off....)

| | Re Take your Mantis to work day | | Storm is over and she hung on all afternoon. It was pretty humorous, after the rain and blowing stopped, she was actually grooming herself, rubbing her front claws over her head like a cat washing itself.
But she's evidently decided we are Not Worthy and has gone to higher ground....she's crawled up the window to the top and disappeared. I'm thinking about calling the gal who sits in my same spot on 4th floor and telling her to keep an eye out for Celine.

| | Re Take your Mantis to work day | | My first thought was "poor you"... we had software called Mantis some place I worked. It was the most painful transition we ever made with that company.
Then when I realized you meant "praying mantis" I remembered our own praying mantis. She was on someone's car all day yesterday at work.
I hope this isn't the end of days or something... | | |
