I kept smelling something, and first I checked the stove, but I didn't leave it on (for once!). I checked the dryer, but it was fine. Wiring, light switches, all good. Then I thought about the heat lamp on the crab tank, and sure enough, that was it. Oh, the lamp was fine, doing its job without catching on fire. However, Poe wasn;t fine. She fell asleep with her neck resting on the top of the heat lamp. The heat lamp which must be turned off for at least ten minutes before you can touch it barehanded because it gets so hot.
Her fur is all frizzly and stinky under her neck, it sticks out like a little brillo pad. She was all set to catch fire- sound asleep. I woke her up by grabbing her, and she hissed- and tried to get back to sleeping with the heat lamp. No sense. None. I have blocked off the top of the crab tank now, which is a shame because Poe loved napping on top of her crabs. However, it is now a stupid-free zone.
When Poe ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
