Okay, one more picture of the new place

Several weeks ago, Missy developed the unfortunate habit of not going far enough in to the litter pan when doing her #1 business. She's the type that does #1 at one end of the pan, #2 at the other, and it never changes. So naturally, this meant LOTS of stinky wet nasty messes for me to clean up. Even newspapers weren't helping much.

We had a hood type litter pan, and I didn't think it would fit in the new space, so I got a new pan before we moved and installed it here. It's the "frame" type with the snap-on rim that curves inward. I had hoped that would help. No such luck.

So, she has yet another new pan. This one was "free" in the sense that I already had it on hand, I just had stuff packed in it. But I got it unpacked today, and when I checked the measurements, it just fits. So, behold, the new, mess-less litter pan!

P.S. I'm not joking.

That's what my dad used for his cat and it worked great. She'd still get some litter stuck on her feet and it would get outside the box, but at least it kept the rest of the mess inside. Good thinking!

That works! We had one cat who liked to hook her bum over the edge and sit to pee, which did not work for me. That's when I began buying the covered boxes with thei high entrance. I agree- wet nasty messes are not fun.

How is Missy adapting to her new house?

We had a covered box, but I guess the entrance hole wasn't high enough.

She's adapting very well! She's very happy to have "her" couch back in front of a window again - we had moved the couch a few weeks before we moved to make room closer to the door for packed boxes that were on their way out. She was Not Happy.

Pixie had a problem with that for a while. We figured out that putting less litter in the pan helped her.

are you kidding - that's great to control kicking.
In the FL house I had a litter box under the laundry room sink. I took the doors off the cabinets, and that way the litter box fit nicely out of the way. When we got 3 cats we needed more "room" so we took a huge rubbermade tub - cut a door in the side, and used that - it worked great!
