| | Okay-Mr. Big and Roxie share the same space. They live in the same part of the house, they use the same litter box, they eat the same food and drink the same water-when Roxie isn't dumping the bowl on the floor that is.
But they won't have anything to do with one another. if one sees the other in His/Her space-he/she runs!
This morning Roxie is sitting on my lap, shedding all over my black pants and purring up a storm. this area is technically Mr. Big's space
Mr. Big is sitting over behind a kitchen chair glaring at us.
Cats are weird.

| | You need a third cat! The third cat will help the first two cats bond, and become special friends!
Just don't ask how THAT logic worked in THIS house.

| | we have a total of FOUR cats divided between the house. Meowlth and Grace live in the back, Roxie and Mr. Big live in the front part of the house. They are all weird and crazy in their own ways.
Mr. Big is the guard cat who wouldn't let my brother in to feed him, or let the workmen out of the bathroom. Roxie is just plain weird. Meowlth is a licker-you sit still long enough he gives you a bath and then gets mad if you move. Grace is a talker and beats up Meowlth-despite the fact he's three times her size. Cats are like mini-demented children

| | so you have the separation of the cats like we do!
Scooter remains locked in the Fortress of Scootitude and comes out several times a day for his snuggles during which Tater must be locked downstairs. It's non-stop excitement. |

| | Fortress of Scootitude I love it. Grace and Meowlth have been buddies from the day we brought Grace home as a scrawny kitten. We tried mixing Roxie, but none of them would go for it. Mr. Big and Roxie have this-"I don't see you therefore I am the only cat who lives in this house" denial thing going on-except for the glare fests when Roxie is in my lap. I wish she and Mr.Big would become buddies, but I think they've both been single cats so long (Mr. Big was a feral stray until my mom tamed him and rescued him-which is why he loves her-and pretty much no one else)-they don't know how to be buddies.

| | Every once in a while Dino gets too aggressive/hyper in his playing with Astro and Princess and if he's being incorrigible, we have to sequester him (put him in my bathroom shower stall, turn off the light, close the door, leave him for 5 minutes) - a kitty time-out for bad behavior. He usually comes out rather chastened. Astro and Princess generally try to ignore him. Dino needs a dog, I think.

| | The weirdest behavior change we've seen since the arrival of Marmel has been in Pixie. She used to be big on being NEAR us, but not really wanting to be hugged or held much. After observing Marmel's attention hogging behavior, Pixie has decided she WANTS snuggles, and will now often climb onto my lap and up onto my shoulder. Which SOUNDS cute, but she's still toting those extra pounds, and she still hasn't figured out that squirming around, especially from shoulder to shoulder across my chest isn't terribly comfortable for me. Also, cold, wet nose on the back of my neck? Not appreciated.

| | We seem to have a main floor cat and a basement cat. Critter stays upstairs, and sometimes sleeps on my bed, when he's not sleeping under the dining room table. Chaz stays in the basement, hoping someone will come downstairs to watch TV so he can lay next to them on the couch and be petted. They both go to the basement to use their litter boxes. This morning, Chaz broke tradition and lined up for cat treats with Critter, in the dining room. I think that's because I forgot to leave dishes of yeast out for both cats in the dining room, since Marty usually does that and he's in Nashville right now. Cats are just strange.

| | yeast for cats?
we've had some kitty issues(yet cats are just strange). usually I get up, Roxie jumps in my lap when I'm on the computer and sits and cuddles as Mr. Big glares at us. The other day, sunday or monday-I sat down and Mr. Big jumped into my lap... which didn't make Roxie happy-she just sat and glared and twitched her tail(that tail is a deadly weapon)-Mr. Big really doesn't like people-other than my mom so I figure it was sort of-I don't like this human but I'm going to sit in her lap so you can't-to Roxie
Now Roxie follows me into the bathroom, into the livingroom and makes darned sure Mr. Big doesn't have time to steal my lap.

| | Brewer's yeast is a good natural flea repellent for animals. And I think it's just all-around good for them, too, but it's been a long time since my mom did that, I don't remember if there were other benefits.

| | and they eat it willingly? we don't have a big flea issue here because of the altitude, i think you really have to try HARD to get fleas or even cockroaches around here(which was why california was such a shock to me)

| | Marmel and Stranger have been PLAYING together! Mostly just chasing each other back and forth across the apartment, but it's pretty much completely mutual as to who's chasing and who's chased.
