| | I've not mentioned this until now, but we lost Dallie about a month ago (may she RIP). It's been pretty hard on Tracy and me because of the love we had for her but Sheba was taking it really hard. She would hardly go outside so the accidents in the house were happening more often. Seemed like she was becoming more depressed everyday.
Sheba had showed signs of happiness when she was around other dogs so we decided to find her a buddy. Yesterday I had the chance to look at some red heelers in Ft. Worth, so Tracy and I got a late start went to look at them. When we got there it turned out to be a rescue mission for the pups.
They were underweight and were covered in fleas. The owner had recently fed them hot dogs in an effort to make them look better. They didn't. After a brief discussion with the owner I loaded the last two of the litter in the truck and came home, having to stop at Wal Mart at 10:30 P and get flea spray for all of us and the truck.
So around 11:30 we got home and started with the baths. The little guys were also covered in scabs from the fleas bites and you could see the fleas dying before your eyes. (Did you know Dawn dish soap will kill fleas?) Anyway, after two baths and a good spraying with flea killer the guys settled in for the night.
This morning they were still scratching a little so they got another spraying. We let Sheba out this morning and she is a completely different dog. Haven't seen her run and play this much since Dallie has been gone.
Anyway, I've attached PICs of the little no-named-yet boyz. |

I did give her some money, but only a itty bitty portion of her asking price. Afterall, there were four mature dogs in her back yard that needed some feed too. |

These little guys are precious, and I hope that you, Tracy and Sheba all enjoy them!! Not sure how you can stand to give one up - even if he will be your Grandpup.
So.... names????? The one looks like a Dexter. |

| | Oh Dennis, they are adorable! for saving them, and for losing Dallie. She was a special dog.
Rex is a red heeler. Smart, smart dogs. Will they be indoor or outdoor puppies?

| | Thanks, Lynn. I knew Rex was a red heeler. I'd heard so much about them I thought I'd give the breed a try and see for myself. They'll be outside dingos. Sheba is all we can handle inside. |

Way cool.
unfortunately, that 'itty bitty portion' will probably not be spent to the remaining dogs' benefit. But rescuing two is so cool.
...tom...

| | It's not too late to call the SPCA... your loyalty is to the dogs, not the humans abusing the dogs.
We just got a new doggie from the SPCA. Good people!

| | they're adorable I'm glad you rescued them both
and you should still call the SPCA about the dogs left behind. You owe nothing to the owner-the dogs deserve better

| | It's like child neglect - no one wants to make a call if it isn't super-serious because they're afraid to get the owner in trouble and the pets removed, but sometimes the SPCA leaves the dogs there and helps the family do the right thing while monitoring them.

| Animal control for the City of Ft. Worth has been made aware of the situation, but honestly I don't think there is anything to be done. While their environment is not the greatest the adult dogs were healthy enough. I think the pups had to contend with the adults for food and were getting the short end. The dogs also had water and shelter, so animal control didn't sound too concerned when the biggest complaint was about fleas. Like the control officer said, I had removed the pups from danger so I had solved the largest problem on my own. She said they would go by for a look to see for themselves. |
