| | To Everyone Involved in the EA Cares Quilt Project | | Deb has been really great in helping us figure out how to get the quilt to the family. We so want them to have it, but we also want to respect their privacy, and Deb has been working with marines and volunteers in the area to help with the delivery process.
I also talked to Deb about a card to include with the afghan, and she offered something amazing!!!

Do you think that everyone who contributes a square would send a note via IM or e-mail? I could put them together with Cindy's piece into a little booklet. I have a few scrapbookers who will help me format it into something beautiful.
| I think this would be a beautiful way to let the family know that they are in our thoughts!
So.....
I don't know everyone who is crocheting or hoping to still crochet or planning on crocheting or sad that they aren't able to crochet, but if everyone involved can send a note for the family to Deb, we can send the family a book that will show that we care.
Please just let Deb and me know so that we can expect notes and squares.
Thanks again to everyone involved! |

| | Re To Everyone Involved in the EA Cares Quilt Project | | I have appropriate graphics, so all you have to do is send me an e-mail and I'll format it. If you have something you'd like to include, by all means do that though.
Deb

| | Re To Everyone Involved in the EA Cares Quilt Project | | Email is fine. Just send them to deb@marinecorpsmoms.com and put Quilt Notes in the subject line. I'll format them with graphics, print and insert them in protective sheets so the kids can touch them, and do a notebook so that if there are other cards that they want to include, they'll have a place for them.
I've done a number of condolence books for families of fallen Marines and they get looked at over and over again.
thanks,
Deb

| | Re To Everyone Involved in the EA Cares Quilt Project | | Okay, I am TERRIBLE with condolences beyond "I'm so sorry for your loss"
I have no idea what to write, other than their story, related by our Cindy, really touched me.

And that's all you need to write.
Don't stress about what to write (I did and realized it was ridiculous). We don't need to write essays. Just a line or two to let them know that we're thinking of them and that we care. |

| | Re To Everyone Involved in the EA Cares Quilt Project | | Okay. Thanks...I was stressing about that too. Bad enough I stress about making my quota on squares. I'm hopelessly addicted. I have 8 done now...well, they are ALMOST done. I have to sew the tails back in, but I figure that will only take a couple of minutes per square.

| | Re To Everyone Involved in the EA Cares Quilt Project | | Wow! You and Bree and turning into Crochet machines!
I think I have about 10 squares, but I'm also working on a comforghan for the traumatic brain injury patients so if I need so steal a square or two I can. I'm also working on a flower-ghan, but those are 6 inch squares. I'm also working on a shawl. And there are always caps for the kids. And I need to do another tea cozy. And I haven't finished my revised "embrace". I think maybe I need to finish something before I take on any more. |

| | Re To Everyone Involved in the EA Cares Quilt Project | | Anyone else that can contribute - please do! There is NO quote. One square is great! I know that some of you said that you wanted to. No pressure, but every square submitted is welcomed!!!
If you want to there is still time!!! |

| | Re To Everyone Involved in the EA Cares Quilt Project | | I need an actual deadline. I can probably knock out a few squares while watching TV next week, but this week is impossible and I'm out of town for the weekend.

| | Re To Everyone Involved in the EA Cares Quilt Project | | I think I have 7 or 8 done, but I'm not sure. I had planned on getting a bunch more done this week with Nick gone, but it's not happening. I'll probably send them off to you tomorrow, so I don't think I'll be getting any more done. I'll see what I can crank out tonight.

| | Re To Everyone Involved in the EA Cares Quilt Project | | I would like them next week, BUT - I can be more flexible if everyone will send what they have so I can get started on the edging AND I get a count from everyone so I know how many squares to expect. All the squares will be different, so I'll need to do a row of one color around all the squares to make sure they have the same number of stitches in the final row so that I can join them.
Naomi = if you can do a few next week, I would love to include them - just let me know.
That goes for anyone else too!
And remember - knit, crochet, or woven. As long as its an 8" square and I can do a row of crochet around them we'll be good! |

| | Re To Everyone Involved in the EA Cares Quilt Project | | A couple of mine are 8 inches when stretched, one pretty tightly. I don't know if you can do more of an edge around it, and I don't know how or else I would. If I can send them the beginning of next week, that would be best. I just realized I left all my finished ones out at the house, and I'm not planning on going out there again tonight. If that's not okay, just let me know and I can pick them up and send tomorrow. Otherwise hopefully I can work on a few more this week/weekend and get more to you.
Like I've mentioned before, I'd love to do this as an ongoing thing if everybody else is interested as well. It seemed like we had various places to send, so it'd be nice to make this a continueing project.

If I can wait and mail to you on Monday, I should be able to knock a few more out between now and then...I can get one done a night while watching TV.
And someone mentioned that there's a big sale at Michaels, so I could go pick up more yarn....

| | Re To Everyone Involved in the EA Cares Quilt Project | | evil Lynn!
Bree - I can wait till next week. Don't make a special trip. I'll need to start edging, but I won't be able to assemble until I have them all and know how many. I can start edging mine.
As people go, if you could PM me with how many you have done and give me an idea of what colors you used - I need to find a good color to use to join and edge them in. I can always do black, but blue or white would be more chearful - or a neutral sort of tan color.
Lynn, thank you, but I was thinking I could steel from the other afghan if we needed it for ours. That is all one specific pattern. |

| | Re To Everyone Involved in the EA Cares Quilt Project | | I have a couple solid black, a couple blues & brown, and a couple greens & brown, so mostly all dark colors. Kinda boring, I know, but the blue and green ones looked better before I started actually using them, but they really aren't too bad.
