We got Delia and Brian's on Monday. Dan was very impressed with your tree, Delia. No postage due!

No cards today. Mailman drove up to the house with a large package (from my parents) and yelped when he got out of the car and saw the dog outside with me. Rex has, uh, well, "watered" our mailman once or twice.

Also got one back! Apparantly the postal service didn't want Deb to pay the 13 cents so they returned it to me.
Deb - I didn't forget you! You're card will be resent tomorrow.

Leslie, thanks for your humorous Christmas card!

And Delia and Brian, thanks for the Christmas tree felt ornament. Believe it or not, I have just finished decorating my tree.

Now that my youngest is 17, she kind of wants the "designer tree" look, but I like the homespun Christmas tree, with ornaments that I, my kids, and my friends have made or given to me....

And as I put them up, I remember who gave them to me, year after year...so thanks, I'll always remember it!

And I just wrote my annual holiday letter and am printing it out as I write. My cards (about 120 or so, I guess) will be going out today.

Happy belated Hanukkah to everyone celebrating Hanukkah....Hopefully my cards will arrive before the 8th day, and definitely before Christmas.

I love doing this - it's so much nicer to get mail than to get bills this time of year.

Another aborted label year so I have to HANDWRITE over 200 envelopes.

I don't understand. I'm a gadget girl, so WTF is the problem with a simple freaking mail merge????

I'm up through D right now.

Get a DymoLabel for Christmas - Plugs in USB, imports addresses from address book (make sure whatever addy book you use is compatible) and prints right on label roll.

I don't know where you live, but where I live they have these boxes we can put the mail in and the mailman will come on Monday and take them from you :p

I got mine out today too. I did them at Thanksgiving, so, I know about the delay in actually getting them to the mailbox.

The PROBLEM was m-f MS Access. I owned a legal copy at one point. Can I find it? No. Tried to import to Open Office. Open Office doesn't like my VB coding (WHY oh WHY couldn't I just do a SIMPLE database for once when I created it?)

So it hurled. Then I typed them all into Open Office's Excel thing. ALL 200 or so! Go to set them up as a datasource? No workie. Then I realize that they don't have a label template either.

ARG! Next year I SWEAR I will use labels!!!!!

Go to the Avery site. I am pretty sure I made mine in Excel for work using the Avery template that matched my labels.

I addressed mine the old fashioned way -- by hand. I figured it was faster than trying to get a database to work.

So what if the post office won't be able to read my handwriting.

Oh and I put the stack of cards near the door. I can't guarantee they'll actually make it to the mailbox that way, but it's worth a try.

For the EA cards, I got lazy. There weren't tons so I cut them from Leslie's list and pasted them into a Avery template/

I got Leslie's yesterday. We got a laugh out of the greeting. (Although hubby was a little perplexed at "Leslie and J" because my sister's husband is Karl.
