Today I've had about 70 or more "returned mail" mails in my regular email account. I've had them before over the last year or so, but what I've had since the very first one wouldn't add up to 70 in all that time.
I don't know if someone is using my computer - I don't have a firewall - or just spoofing my address.
1. How do I tell?
2. If they've hijacked the computer, is there a good free firewall available that won't take forever to download on dial-up?
3. Any other advice?

Not your computer, sweetie, they hijacked your email address as a fake return address (spoofing, like you said). We've had a couple of threads running on this because it has happened to a bunch of us. I'll dig one of them up for you.
The good news is, they only steal an address for a very short period of time and then move onto the next one. The returns should stop after a day or two.
Hugs.
Andrea
edit: here's the thread where I freaked out

It's annoying as hell, but it will be over soon.

I know, I know - but. :D See, I was one of the first people to be assuring Jeff and others when they had similar problems. But I never in all this time got *this* much "rejected mail" at one time. That's what has me so freaked out.
Still, you're probably right. Sigh........

As far as a good, free downloan, zonealarms is pretty decent for firewall protection.
Here's their link. Zonealarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp)
