This thread applies to message boards being sued because a company didn't like the fact that people posted negative opinions about the company.

I think it explains a lot with regards to why Epinions takes the policy on content that it does.

What a quagmire. You'd hope that the judge would throw it out as a frivolous lawsuit as it obviously falls under the right to fair comment/criticism.

I haven't ever really argued with Epinions' position on trying to protect themselves from being sued. I mean geeze, if you look at all of the things that are posted on the site, imagine what companies would do if someone did a comercial like that! Not too fun. I mean most of the people posting things on the site don't use copyright things or anything like that... Personally I have always tried to figure out ways that Epinions could police the site without actually policing it. They don't generally seem to do stuff and err on the side of caution usually...
