I can't find anything anymore

I have been poking through the software section looking for things to try and things to review. I absoutely HATE the new design. Browsing is impossible.

I am a pretty darn intuitive person when it comes to navigating web sites and figuring out new software. However, I can't seem to find my way around with the new drop down box organization. I never seem to get to a point in software where there is just a list of products that I can poke through.

I miss the old design that allowed us to drill down easily from the home page to computers to software then to a main category such as Internet software, then to email clients, etc. The way things are set up now, I end up giving up long before I find what I am looking for.

If the darn drop downs would seach based on what we say, and return partial queries or generic responses, I would be much happier. For example, if I don't pick any specific type or brand of software, I want the dropdowns to take me to a screen listing all the main software categories.

Oh, and I would also like software to have an option to search for price with FREE being one of the options. Free software is something that EVERYONE loves.

Amy

Isn't Jakob Nielsen on their board of advisors?

How many times does he have to say "Dropdown boxes do not improve navigation!" before they listen?

It's not just that Amy. Much of the software seems to be de-linked, especially in PDAs (not sure if you are looking for PPC or desktop software). I posted in this forum a week or so ago that the only way to find most software is to search for the title. Ick.

Some details at http://www.epinionforums.com/showthr...?threadid=2065

He used to be but his profile page no longer mentions that he’s an advisor. I’m 99% sure that it used to say that he was.
