Shake Stupid headhunters!

Once upon I worked for a company which just so happened to share the name of a big software application. So now, I keep getting emails from headhunters who want me to apply for a technical position using the software application.

Doh! For some reason, I can't see myself ever using a headhunter who can't be bothered to actually READ my resume!

So what kind of silliness do you get from headhunters?

Wink

Cameron-Brooks (they specialize in military officers) hounded me for years until I moved overseas and they could no longer track my address. They wanted me to read their books about establishing a civilian career and then put me into some sales job working on commission. No thanks.

Besides, I'm much happier living off the taxpayers' money.

Ug. We get headhunters where I work calling us daily. The best were the ones offering to send qualified people to Iraq to take x-rays. "Um... I don't think anyone here is willing to relocate as far as Iowa, let alone Iraq. Thanks for the offer though!"

I am in the insurance industry which is very small socially. We get calls from headhunters telling us about jobs that are already making the circuit. Usually the positoins are open because no one wants to work for the companies that are hiring.

At my old company, we used to get calls asking to speak to "Joe in the computer room".

Our computer room was quite small and generally did not include a person named Joe. Or a person of any name, in fact. Nor was there a Joe employed at the firm.

"Sorry, there's no Joe here.", we'd say, knowing that the response would be....

"Oh, gee, I must have forgotten his name; how embarrassing! Could you remind me what his name is? You know, the guy who works in the computer room?"

"Let's see. Do you mean Jack?"

"Hmmm... might be. Anyone else there in the computer room?"

"Well, there's [insert three or four outlandish names]."

We'd take bets on how long it would take for Vesuvius to start getting phone calls.
