Not that I agree with the ruling, because I think that it might start a precedent that affects all parents, but for some reason, there is quite possibly a lot of details left out of the press article that we arent quite made aware of.
For some reason, this story sounds like something that could be between my ex and his parents. His situation was actually quite disheartening, and I would love to see his parents have to pay him a monthly income. But of course, I know all of the gory details of his life.
Of course, every kid that doesnt feel like holding a job will be suing his (or her) parents for a monthly income, blaming past aspects of his childhood on the fact that he cant support himself.
But I guess I keep thinking of it this way: If I made a monthly income of $20,000 and my child had an illness that made him unable to support himself, I would gladly help him out with no court having to make me do so. It isnt like the money they have to pay him is going to stop food from being put out on their table. And it doesnt sound like the man was a lazy bum that refused to help himself - he made it through law school and worked for 19 years.
