| | What are your favorite smells? (Not sure what some of our creative members may come up with)
Mine are 1. Freshly cut grass. The most wonderful aroma ever. I would wear perfume that smelled like this.
2. The air right before or after it rains.
3. Gasoline. When my dad used to take us in the car, I had to stop myself from gulping down the fumes. Didn't want to affect my mental abilities.
4. Money. No, not for mercenary reasons. There is just something about dollar bills. The dye? The ink? I don't know, but I've scared my family by taking dollars and holding them to my nose. New dollars and old dollars each have a distinct smell, and i can't really tell which one I like better.
I'm bored. Can't you tell? |

| | Good topic! Smell is a powerful memory trigger for me . . . I can be walking down a crowded street and catch a faint whiff of pipe tobacco (something #76) and instantly be transported back to my grandfather's kitchen.
My favorite smells include: - The indescribable sweetness of a newborn baby. Chatting with BobMc the other night as he held his new daughter, I remembered how I would hold Shane close to my face so I could imprint that smell in my memory forever.
- Lavender is one of my favorite scents and I have a friend who has begun a cottage industry growing and selling lavender. Last month, I went out and gathered armloads, putting bouquets in every room in my house. I wove lavender wands to give as gifts to my friends. After the stalks dried, I stripped the petals and sewed them into lavender sachets that I throw into the dryer when doing sheets and towels, and my clothes. Shane mutinied when he noticed his work clothes redolent of lavender
- A loaf of yeast bread as it comes out of the oven.
- Freshly ground coffee beans. Even before I started drinking coffee, I loved the aroma.
- My living room, just after I've cleaned and polished with lemon wax.
Mmmmm.
Deb

| | Hmmm....my favorite smells....
1.) Rain. Yeah, I can smell it (especially when accompanied by a storm)
2.) Oranges. Actually anything citrus, but especially oranges
3.) Fresh cut grass. It reminds me of summer.
4.) Ham. Yup, ham.
I know there are others, but these are the ones I can think of right now.

| | I like the smell of gasoline too...LOL
I'm not big on the smell of fresh cut grass; it seems to bring out the allergies every time.
I love the smell of frying fried chicken, or a boiling roast simmering for five or six hours... whew!
I love the smell of a library.
Then I also really like the smell of farts. They're just so naturally thick, warm and full of wholesome goodness. |

| | Hmmn...for me, these immediately came to mind: - Opening a new can of tennis balls. That 'pop' sound and the following smell vault me back to childhood with my Mom and Dad.
- Freshly cut onions and garlic with a sprinkle of oregeno sizzling in a frying pan. Getting ready for whatever the new concoction will be for dinner that night.
- Dew in the mornings when camping. Getting out of the tent and smelling the fresh morning air and dew on the ground hours before I usually even open my eyes.
- Using coconut suntan lotion when playing beach volleyball. It always feels like I am about to spend a week relaxing in the caribbean when lathering up with this stuff.
- The air in the Rockies on the first ski run. There is nothing like that first big breath on top of Sunshine Mountain with the world sprawling out in front of you.
- Boots Apple Hand Soap. Only british people will likely understand this one...
Anyway, that's my list,

| | A freshly printed book. I also love the smell of a print shop and the smell of silvers that have just come from the printer (though, anymore, they give me a headache after about two hours of working with them). Autumn. Leaves burning, the smell of the crispness in the air, apples, etc. Pine trees. Thanksgiving dinner. I once had a meal at a restaurant that smelled like Thanksgiving dinner all wrapped up in one entree.

| | Mmm, I have to agree with a lot of the things posted already especially the air after a rain and various food smells, but here's another addition:
Fresh sawdust - My dad did various bits of work around the house, building animal pens, fixing things, etc. and I loved to help him do this. So for me, the smell of fresh sawdust brings back the good memories I have of growing up. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

| | Fresh baked Bread -you know some people bake a loaf before Open Houses to sell their house easier. First smell of a newly opened can of coffee -this might be heresy to all the grind-your-owns, but I love the smell of a can that was being put through a can opener long before people were grinding their own. My wall of Pink Jasmine in the Spring -Early March my 6' fence becomes a cascade of Pink Jasmine blooms. About that same time all the citrus trees in the city (mine included) start to blossom, while that's going on, the hundreds of Freesia bulbs are blooming. March becomes a very fragrant month. I love walking outdoors at dawn, when the dew is still on everything, yet the car exhausts haven't built up, and smell Spring in the air. 'Oklahoma' Tea Rose -This rose is as close to black as some get, such a rich, bloody red! It has a fragrance only rivaled by Double Delight. Baby Powder on a newly washed baby's butt - This was the only part about changing diapers I liked!:p |

| | 1) The scent of almond
2) Gasoline (although a popular favorite smell, it is a bit weird when you really think about it)
3) The smell of my boyfriend, especially when he has on aftershave
4) Kitten and puppy breath when they yawn right in your face
5) Autumn and spring! |

| | I'd agree with a lot of the smells listed already. I'd have to add:
Popcorn - one of my very favorite foods in the world. The smell of any kind of popcorn can make me salivate. Plumeria - not the awful Bath & Body Works version of plumeria either. I smelled the real deal when I was in Hawaii this summer and fell in love with it! I wore a plumeria behind my ear all the time, mostly because my ear was close to my nose! Lilacs - one side of my parents' house is lined with lilac bushes, and the smell of them in the spring is heavenly. You can smell it almost from across the street.

| | Lilac-I love that smell-when we were kids we used to pull the flowers off and suck the nectar from them-the taste and the smell are still with me.
Fresh Gardinia's -I buy them then float them in a bowl on the table-they fill the air with a sweet fresh sent I love.
The lemon's off my friend Luci's tree-she used to live in this little house in Richmond Ca. in her backyard she had a HUGE lemmon tree that had cross-polinated with the oranges. those were the sweetest smelling (and tasting) lemons I've ever had. She used to ship them to me before she moved-I always wondered what the UPS guys thought!
My 7 year old after she's been playing or at school all day-the smell of a happy dirty child-
Fresh mud-or an 18month old covered in fresh mud-something about that clean dirt smell
the smell of dew and pine trees in the morning when we are camping-its something special.
Wet cat-really, I love it-not the getting them wet and bathed though!
Baby Magic brand baby lotion-I love that one
Baby Soft perfume-remember that one?
freshly washed and dryed sheets-crisp and hot from the dryer with the dryer sheet still stuck to them
Jasmine-fresh if I can find it-which is rare.
Fresh Roses-
and there are more.....
