| | I'm hoping in a day or two. We've gone from being a 3-computer family to being a one computer family over the past few months. It's really putting a cramp in how much I can get done in a day.

| | pssst hey amy.... wanna compaq pc???? if YOU can figure out how to get the illegal copy of XP OFF it and get it to PA, it's yours. (Don't ask, tried XP under 30 day trial, forgot about it, never activated it b/c using a friends to see if I wanted it, blah blah blah..... keep trying to put old Win 98 restore back on it, no dice - I'd cleaned it out before, so no biggie, but grumble grumble grumble - hate when the stupid "user error" is MY OWN STUPIDITY.....) |

| | It wasn't a WIN95 box before it was a WIN98 box, was it? If so, I know what your problem is. I can't tell you how to fix it, but I can tell you that it has to do with FAT32
Fortunately, my reinstall was on a Gateway with a lifetime warranty and their tech support got me on track.

| | no need for a thrid party program to do something that good old DOS will do. Zerofill for the ultimate reset to factory setting. hehe
Or, FDisk. delete all the partitions and rebiuld them, guaranteed to get rid of any OS.
also, microwave does a good job as well, tho this will tend to cost a bit more LOL

| | Well, I had tried posting a reply, but then it came up with the contract to check off, and when I submitted that, it ate my post.

| | Ah. I forgot about quick reply possibly being a problem. I'll code it so quick reply is off if the forum requires a contract.

| | Probably best that we take a few seconds longer to consider our replies when we're in Soap Box mode

| | ok. It's fixed now. If you haven't signed the contract, you don't see the quick reply in the symposium.

I understand this is not a news clipping service.
| So can we use Current Events, then, as a news clipping service?
Seriously, I do look to EA to keep up with the news on some particular topics, without having to wade through the clutter on the blogs or the google/yahoo news pages . Like the Chalabi thread -- I figure if anything significant happens, someone will post a link there, and I've been doing the same. There's not much discussion, per se, but it is a useful thread (to me anyway). So is this still kosher? I mean, sometimes there's not much left to say (all one can do sometimes, in hearing the latest Chalabi news, is to shake one's head), but it's very useful to have threads like that (even, or maybe especially, on topics that only a few people are following closely). |

| | Yep. Current events is still the place for news stories that aren't necessarily debatable. But, if you post something in the symposium, you should take a position on the issue.

(Whew -- for a moment there, I thought I was losing the surprisingly valuable EA Clipping Service, on which I've come to rely.) Hey -- the Symposium contract looks good! Nice job. |

Nice job. | I look to EA for current events and news, too ( ) and I do like when people post links, but I'd like it better if they included a comment or a quote. Sometimes the link requires registration, and sometimes I don't know enough about the subject to click the link. Even a short quote might clue me into the fact that this is something that I should read or may want to read. |
