| | Stupid hyperlink question | | I know we've covered this before. There used to be a button in the writing box that allowed you to create a clickable text hyperlink. Now it doesn't, and I can't remember how to create a clickable text link. I know it has to do with < a href= but without the spacing, but I can't seem to get it right.
Help?

| | Re Stupid hyperlink question | | Lemme see...
No, I'm not seeing it. The only link button I see for regular links is the one that is the globe and the chain link, and that only lets you put in the link itself, it does not have a way of putting in the text for it.

| | Re Stupid hyperlink question | | Use that link and it will fill in the code for you.
Then copy and paste the entire code from your text window wherever you need to apply it. It looks to me like you need it for your signature.

is the vB code that you need. You could click the icon to reply to this post and then just copy that snippet of code. |

| | Re Stupid hyperlink question | | OH! Smack me upside the head! You have to type in the text that you want to show, highlight said text, THEN click the hyperlink button, paste in the URL, and it formats it all for you.
@doh
Trying one more time for a crazy news story link just to make sure I got it down...

| | Re Stupid hyperlink question | | See, the button used to be - click the button, type in the text you wanted (or cancel), then type in the URL, and it put it all together. Two steps on one button. Then we lost one step and I was lost.
I never have learned how to dance...

| | Re Stupid hyperlink question | | What style are you using, maybe that makes a difference? I've got blue stuff, I think it's the default.

| | Re Stupid hyperlink question | | Hmmm. I have no clue. All I know is, the globe-and-chain button on mine will not create clickable text links all by itself.

| | Re Stupid hyperlink question | | Maybe I don't understand what you mean by all by itself.
I always typed in the title and then pasted in the URL.
In any case - we now both can post titled links and thats what matters. |

| | Re Stupid hyperlink question | | The way I remember it a long time ago was the way I described above. You didn't have to type anything into the main text box. You clicked on the "make a link" button, and the you got two dialogue boxes. The first one asked you for the text that you wanted your link to say (like "My Ebay Stuff" or "crazy news story link" or "test") and then you told it okay. The second dialogue box asked for the URL that you wanted to link the text to.
Or maybe I'm just remembering some other board! The MyCoupons board uses VBulletin, also, maybe it was them, but I was just so sure it was EA, because somewhere along the line I remember being frustrated about losing the ability to make clickable text links and didn't figure out the new way.
Until today.
