I couldn't respond the first time I read your post, Bridgette, and I'm not sure I can respond now. Perhaps I can start by paraphrasing your close to say that your post makes me proud to be a member of EA. This is the speech I would have liked to hear our President give.
I'm glad that someone (?) convinced you to move this to the EA home page where it may get more visibility. May I suggest that you consider submitting it to the NY Times as an Op Ed piece (or at least as a letter to the editor)? It represents an uplifting of spirit that many could sorely use. |

Good heavens- that was absolutely remarkable!
Is someone going to make sure that one of the big papers sees a copy of this? It really is wonderful- the kind of thing that everyone will be clipping and taping to their fridge.

Thanks all! I appreciate the kind words. My local newspaper rejected this about an hour ago--it was longer than 150 words.
But I'm pleased all of you liked it and that perhaps it might have provide even a few moments of encouragement. My husband and I discussed the matter Wednesday night and I left that conversation feeling good for the first time since I learned of the tragedy and just had to share those feelings in some way.
I must believe that if good can come of evil, then gigantic good can come of gigantic evil.
