| | I have a month and a half to come up with a present for Tracy. I usually know what it's going to be by now, but it's just not clicking yet. The logical answer is diamonds, but I've worn that idea out. Besides, she's probably expecting them again.
I'd like to stay in the area of $300.00, but get something totally awesome. Can that be done?
Help please! |

| | Apart from diamonds, what else does she like?
Is she someone who would prefer something to wear, eat, drink, do, display, etc.? |

| | I Prefer household appliances, so I'll rely on gifts that made my sister happy when my B.I.L. got them:
*Complete Day-Spa Package (hair, nails, toes, massage)
*Fancy clothing (my husband would NEVER buy clothes for me! -I wouldn't want him to, but my sis loves it)
*A romantic and fully planned day (picnic basket already packed and loaded into the family wagon -kids at the babysitters, she just puts on her clothes & goes)
*His & Hers sexy 'night-wear'
*A Puppy or Kitten (depending on preferences)
*A portable bathtub spa unit (~$100 at Macys)
*A silver comb/brush/mirror set with vanity
*A Jewelry Armoir (~$250 at Penneys)
*Tickets to an event she's always wanted to go to
*Dinner/dancing cruise on a lake or river (we have them in San Francisco, Sacramento & Lake Tahoe -I don't know if they're everywhere)
*An overnight get-away in an ocean-view room
*An expensive plant for her yard/container garden
*A covered glider for the front porch -with lots of cushions for making out.
Hope these give you some ideas... Have a good one!
Pam
(who's 20th anniversary is coming up next April -we'll do whatever the Tax Refund check allows... We usually plan, but this year with my being out of work, we're leaving it up to happenstance!) |

| | | Ya know, this fondue pot was less than $300 and the stuff I've made with it... it's been a total treasure.
Also, the breadmachine I've got is less than $300 and some of the things I've made with it... c'est magnifique!
But if I had my druthers and the room for it, I'd want a gigantic cat-tree with all sorts of swingy things and branches for the cats to climb on. I love watching these little monsters in action. |

| | I guess she's not dropping any hints. That would make it too easy. I suppose she already either has a PDA or has made it pretty clear she doesn't want one.
Household appliances fall into the love/hate category. My husband knows any appliance had better come with lots of roses or something the kids won't get to see me wear.
Is there a local artist whose work she's been admiring?

| | The only hint she has given is way out of my price range. She wants one of those souped up sewing machines that embroideries-$1200.
Kurt,
I'll never buy her anything to wear again. Our taste are so far apart it's not even funny. The "do" part of what you asked would fit her best. Quote:

| Now you're talking. Thanks, Pam. Quote: |

| Hmm...fondue. We have a breadmachine and you're right. They are wonderful. Another good suggestion. She loves antiques. You should see our home because it's decorated with all kinds of old stuff from furniture to cooking utensils. Quote:

| She wouldn't know how to turn a PDA on and I couldn't teach her either.
She loves western art, but not a particular artist.
Thanks for the suggestions. Now I have something to think about. |

| | It's a little hokey, but how about naming a star after her.
Or tickets to a ballet (or the performing arts venue that she would most like--symphony, dance, theater, etc.) You can include a romantic dinner before or after the performance.

| | Slick,
1) Weekend in a new city is always fun.
2) Turn off the computer
3) I love Redlass' star idea, but only if one you has an interest in astronomy
4) Read or heard once about a guy who spent his anniversary working at a soup kitchen with his wife to remind them both of what they had the other days. They ended up making it a tradition.
5) Some sort of memorabilia from a hobby? eBay has everything. I've bought Kalynda signed albums, ice skates and other stuff there. Maybe an autographed book that's a favorite?
6) Keep the computer off. |

| | Dennis-when you have a chance try checking out shopgoodwill.com
the site takes a while to search(try avoiding anything from the wabash valley goodwill) but they do get some incredible things sometimes-they have antiques and collectables and a whole lot more-of course it is an auction site, so there are no guarentees but it's worth looking at if you are searching for something different!

| Not hokey at all, Bridgette. She did that for my birthday last year. She went through the International Star Registry and mine is Scutum RA 30m D-12 14'. Quote:

| Thanks, George. Got it. Quote: |

| Another auction site. Went over and took a look. You're right, Fridai, it's hard to search. Gave up finally, but thanks anyway. Quote: |
