| | Hi. My name is Amy, and I'm an Office Supplies - aholic | | I blame it on Andrea. I have been doing SO GOOD at staying away from Staples and Office Max. Then she started in on this houshold notebook kick.
I tried to just gather office supplies from work (See the thread in the Business Beat about stealing from work ) but work's stuff wasn't COOL enough. So at lunch time, I went to Office Max.
To make a long story short, I now have a household binder that is worth more than my husband's old car. I also have a case of printer paper, some printer paper with autumn leaves on it, and more page protectors than you can imagine.
And Sarah suckered me out of Putt Putt goes to the zoo. (Why a 13 year old wanted Putt Putt goes to the zoo is beyond me. It must be one of those moments when my adolescent wants to be a little kid again).
Now that I am off the office supplies wagon, I need help from my friends to keep me AWAY from those evil stores.
Amy (Thankfully, I've never been to a casino and am smart enough to know that I never should go to one either because I am a very addictive type)

| | You are using your handy-dandy Staples Dividend card, right?
We get a $10-$20 check from them every quarter and that's only household stuff and software with a teeney bit of hardware.
Darn place is only a block away. I can't even blame Andrea... |

Me too.

| | Oh my gosh... when I had pneumonia, the first place I went to when I started to feel better was Staples. My friend Marcie and I can literally spend hours in the store, just looking at push-pins, binders, office signs, etc. All our other friends make fun of us, but are always jealous of the yearly planners we have, or the butterfly push-pins we have, and all of the coolest pens that money can buy.
This sickness started in 6th grade when I had to have the perfect black D-ring binder with the cover that you can slide pictures in (my picture was ripped out of a Heavy Metal mag, and featured Metallica... the back had Motley Crue... am I dating myself here?) and the colored refill paper, and colored-ink pens. Ah... a preteen dream!
I am glad to know I am not the only one with this sickness. Hehe.
I'm an office supply addict, who are you?
Are you an office supply addict too?
Then there's a pair of us? Don't tell!
They'd banish us, you know. (Also good to know that being an English major for my second major wasn't a complete waste... I can always parody excellent poems from memory And it only took five years of college...) |

Have you played it yourself yet? Putt Putt Saves the Zoo is one of the best ones-I've played it a few times to tell the truth-it's a cute and fun game!
Putt Putt saves the Circus is a good one too!
I love office supply stores too-It's the smell of fresh unspoiled paper and unused pencils that gets me! Of Course I love the smell of a library too!

| | I too am an addict.
I also am in charge of supplies at school for both teachers and students. Going through the catalogs is almost as invigorating as seeing the stuff in person.
Is there any hope for us out there?

| | ROFLMAO!
Office supplies get me high. I swear, they do. I go down the aisle and I just get all tingly.
I love to color code things!
You want an addiction? (like you all need another one!)
The folks at Century Business Solutions (in whom I have no financial interest!) run a direct mail campaign periodical where they send out a sample of these paperwork organizers. I've not seen a product exactly like this anywhere. It is simple, yet very durable and very handy.
Anyway, they sent me one a few years back. Immediately I had to have more and have since ordered probably $3500 or $4000 worth for my company. We use them as job jackets, color coded for our different product lines and different types of orders. They are essential lifeblood sorts of things because we've gone paperless, after an order is complete (impossible beforehand as of yet). After an order is invoiced, we scan everything in for permenent storage so staples are a no-no and paperclips, well, paperclips would be death (orders getting accidently caught together )
I love office supplies!!!
Andrea
who can make great color coded systems, just hates following them :p

Yahoo! I got a homeschooling discount card, good for 20% off at Staples!
Cindy, whose husband actually thought that we'd therefore spend 20% less at Staples this year |

| | It's nice to know I'm not alone. I'm not as bad as a colonel I worked for (mentioned in the other thread), but I do go by Staples once in awhile, just to inhale the smell of fresh, new office supplies.
I have a particular weakness for accordian folders. And pencil sharpeners. And fine point pens. And...well, you get the idea.

| | Nothing gives you quite the feeling of possibility and potential as a new blue pen and a package of college-ruled notebook paper. And a nice, new binder to put it all in.
