| | Those who have issues with the National Enquirer (usually celebrities) take their revenge by filing a lawsuit.
The question is not who has it in for the Enquirer but who has access to anthrax?
I'm currently reading "Germs" by Judith Miller. Like most organisms there are different identifiers in different forms of anthrax that could lead to finding the source of this outbreak.
I'm betting that someone put anthrax spores in the A/C system of the building. Why the Enquirer? Because they are media. Those spores can live for a long time so that the contamination could have taken place before 9/11. |

| | Coinkeedink? Yeah probably more than anything else. As the article (and news reports said over the weekend), Anthrax occurs naturally and isn't exactly unheard of. The last confirmed case prior to the Florida one was within a year in Texas (again see article). The last one in Florida was 20 some-odd years ago. Shrug, it happens.
Now, as I've typed all that, there's a crawl on the bottom of the TV screen (MSNBC) saying that two more men in Florida might have anthrax and that AG Ashcroft is looking into the matter more closely to see if it is possible terrorism or possible criminal activity.
Jeff
who is wondering if this is terrorism, if NY was picked first because it has the highest Jewish population, Florida second because it has the second highest, and who has the third highest... |

| | Here's the A.P. story outlining the new evidence that this may, in fact, have been some sort of deliberate attack. |

| | According to CNN, American Media (publishers of the Enquirer and Sun) and where the affected people worked, is officed only a few miles from the air strip where Mohammed Atta trained to fly.
Now we know he was looking into crop dusters. Perhaps he decided putting anthrax spores in the air systems of office buildings was a more efficient way to spread anthrax. |

That link posted says nothing at all about the National Enquirer. Can someone explain, or read the link again to tell the rest of us what we're missing?

| It's "The Sun," not "The Enquirer" -- very similar newspaper tabloid. That's where both of the men who contracted anthrax worked. |

There may not be a reason to jump to conclusions about terrorism, but considering the rarity of inhaled anthrax cases and the fact that both of these cases appear to have been contracted inside a building (where there anthrax has been detected, I hear) law enforcement should be suspicuous. There is a definite possibility this was intentional.

| | JP,
I actually agree with you, and I think it is wise that the FBI and other law enforcement entities look into this matter.
Anyhow, where I keep my sheep is no business of yours!

Thank you thank you thank you. I have been under so much stress with what's going on in my personal life and I so desperately needed a laugh. Even though it is a short quip, this is the funniest thing I've seen in awhile.
Thank you!

| | It is possible it is terrorism.
It is also possible it is a copy-cat kind of crime. Alas, I've been expecting that to have happened before now -- with all the talk about how to do various things, it's got to be putting some ideas in some out-of-touch minds out there listening. |

| | abc.com reports that the building involved is American Media which publishes the National Enquirer. (There is some dispute about this in posts above.)
They also report that due to various factors they believe this is definitely a case of terrorism. |

I saw Howard Fineman on Hardball and he says they are suspecting the Anthrax came in a letter mailed one week before the attacks. The man who died, and the man who has been exposed, touched the letter (which had a powdery substance and a Star of David charm inside) and it was an amusing/kooky letter and was passed around the office quite a bit. There might be more individuals infected, but I imagine this wasn't near the disaster the culprit was hoping.

Reading the last post just brought a well of emotions out for me. All I keep thinking is "God, this can't all really be happening, can it?" |

| | And here is the latest...
A third person in the American Media Building was found to have anthrax spores in her nose.
A disgruntled employee left an email to his co workers saying that he left them "a little present."

| | I can't get the NYPost to pull up, but on "Good Morning America" this morning, they reported that the disgruntled employee has been thoroughly checked out and is not considered a suspect. I swear I heard them saying (I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth so I could be wrong! ) that what he actually left them was like, a bagel or something!!!

| | Yes, in speaking with a friend today I also heard that he had been cleared, but again, in the latest cnn.com report (which was posted at 10-something) the story of the disgruntled employee was again repeated.
My friend also said he wasn't from the Sudan at all... he was from Spain. I haven't seen anything else on this. She said she got all this info from the news this morning. |

| | The President of the company which manufactures the Anthrax vaccine is Fuad El-Hibri. The company, called Bioport, was purchased from the State of Michigan.
Another corporate officer is former Navy Admiral William Crowe.
El-Hibri has complained that the Defense Dept. was only reimbursing his company $4.60 a vaccine, as they had done with the state of Michigan, but that it actually costs them $15.00 to produce a dose.
Consequently, there are shortages.
The company has a website www.bioport.com)
I heard all this on the radio while driving. |

| | I don't think this is something a mere disgruntled employee could pull off.
Who has access to anthrax spores? I don't think you can just order them from your neighborhood medical supply house.
