Deleting old review after complete rewrite

Thanks for the suggestion and advice.

I thought about deleting the old review and then republishing it with the new content. However, I thought I read that people really don't like this because it's viewed as an unfair way to get more hits.

In the situation I am dealing with, it was an epinion written in Jan 00 (over 1 1/2 years ago) and was about 2 paragpaphs. I have completely rewritten the review. One of the original paragraphs remained in a somewhat unrecognized form. Then I added another 10-12 paragraphs (not that length means that it's good - except it shows the extent of the rewrite).

Any additional thoughts? Will I have committed a faux-pas if I republish it? Just curious how people feel.

In that case, I would definitely delete and repost. That is not just a revision, but an extensive re-write so as to be practically a new review.

Despite the diversity of our backgrounds, there is one thing we all have in common.

In the beginning we all wrote junk. Brief, uninformative, amateurish junk.

I see nothing wrong with deleting these early attempts and doing them right.

Rich

Thanks again for the feedback.

I did end up deleting it and then republishing the review.

Not entirely by choice though. I hit the "update" button because I wanted to fix a spelling mistake and kept getting "page not found" error for 25 minutes. So I deleted it and re-published it. That only took 15 minutes of hanging. Grrrrrrrrr...

Am I the only person having this problem today?

Dreamlab, Father Kurt and Rich have given you excellent guidance, and I would agree. If you were changing a few little things, no, don't delete it and resubmit.

If it is essentially a brand new review (a total rewrite), delete and start over. Those initial reviews most of us coughed out when we innocently fell upon the site, were an embarrassment to society. Of course I'm talking about mine. . .

Thanks Suzer!

I will keep the advice in mind next time I do another complete rewrite. I have 2 in mind. There are others - but I am not going to waste my time if the online store has already gone out of business (and I have about 5!)

PS Thanks for rating the review by the way!
