Who are more difficult to raise: boys or girls? | | I thought I would post this question since I seem to be hearing that from moms of boys that their children are have more energy and are more difficult (with the underlying accusation that I have a girl so I couldn't possibly understand). My experience has been that it depends on the child's own personality. Right from the beginning my niece was very difficult and is probably what you could call a "spirited child." Now she is a teenager and very hard to deal with, much more so than her teenaged brother. At least one of her sisters was not difficult in an emotional sense, but is an incredibly active physically and a challenge that way, the way most people seem to think peculiar to boys. Still, when I look at some of the little boys in my neighborhood and how they act, I wonder. I think part of it is the personality, part of it is how the mother reacts to her son as opposed to her daughter, and I think gender is a part of the personality, but I wonder how much of a part.
