EBD W/O Poll - What Next

Multiple threads have asked the question What next especially regarding the EBD writeoff and the hope that edit and delete user functions will be restored.

What I'm looking for here is to try to consolidate the EA member opinions regarding the situation. If restored, will you take down your EBD post, remove your others, change nothing?

Your old music cannot sustain you through a life, not if you're someone who listens to music every day, at every opportunity. You need input, because pop music is about freshness, about Nelly Furtado and the maddeningly memorable fourth track on a first album by a band you saw on a late-night TV show. And no, that fourth track is not as good as anything on Pet Sounds or Blonde on Blonde or What's Going On, but when was the last time you played Pet Sounds? - Songbook by Nick Hornby

I don't plan on participating, but I do have sympathy for the ones that have. I see it as a protest, a means towards an end. I would hope that once the end is achieved, the EBD posts would come down.

The poll so far is running half and half. (And half again, but I'll explain.)

22 responses with 11 each participating and not participating.

Of those who did, all said they would take their post down upon restoration of the edit and delete functions. Half of the participating group said they would not contribute in the future or contribute less.

I refuse to calculate confidence levels early on a Sunday morning, but if I worked at Epinions, those would be encouraging numbers to me. Simply restoring the edit/delete function returns a significant number of people to pre-change production. That's pretty nifty given the sweeping changes and the manner in which they were presented.

My EBD post stays for as long as it the account and that stupid posted-too-early product exists.

BOOYAH!

(I would not normally condone leaving one of these up but I was almost as irritated by the addition of this product and the abuse of the category thus far as I am not having an edit/delete function.)

Personally I can think of very few if any things at Epinions that have bothered me more than the addition of the two Treo categories followed quickly by a "review" from an Epinions content engineer who hadn't even bothered to look at what little information we do know about the Treo.

Oh yes, at the same time I could name quite a few released PDAs that I could go out and buy today that I couldn't review because they haven't been added to the database (not to mention the piddling percentage of accessories in the database nor the pathetic state of the Palm software listings).

If anything were to drive me to insurrection this would be it.

Janice

BTW in true Epinions style they only added two of the three Treos - the 180 and 270, not the 180g. I rather suspect they didn't even know the 180g existed since the content engineer didn't seem to bother learning anything about the device before posting his review

I can live without the pennies or without the Content Partner sites (although, I do think that those who have put a lot of effort and care into their content partner sites should be permitted to continue -- raise the bar to limit the casual user so that it becomes what it was intending to become).

But without edit/delete functionality, I won't contribute any more.
