I have hardly ever flown anywhere on a holiday, primarily because I could fly to visit family at least three times on non-holidays for the same price as I could fly once on a holiday.
My son flew to visit us on Christmas Day twice (the actual holiday is always cheap.) Once we were in South Dakota...his plane headed towards Sioux City, Iowa, was diverted to Des Moines...from there he was sent to Minneapolis...His plane finally arrived at about 11:30 p.m., at which point my husband drove 45 miles in a blizzard to get him...
We flew on Easter once, during a relocation (left on the holiday, also cheap, actually super cheap because my father-in-law, a TWA retiree, was still alive, and we could still use standby passes.)
I remember the attendant asking "Did anyone else give you anything to put in your bag?" My daughter was about 6. I said, "Only the Easter bunny."
Today they would frisk me for a comment like that
But no, my two sons in Missouri are driving down to see us, but I haven't ruled out going to St. Louis after that...since school is closed until January 7 and I have some flexibility and portability in what I do.
