| | I consider myself an, ahem, Disney expert of sorts.
It's tough to plan a Disney vacation CHEAPLY. But it can be done. Dont' skimp on where you stay: stay on property if you can. The All-Star resorts are fairly cheap and a great value.
As for tickets, if you want to do a real Disney vacation, the 4-day passes are a MUST. They let you "park hop," so you're not stuck at a certain park all day long if it gets too crowded. (Don't know actual prices, but it seems the 4-day tickets are actually a better value than individual tickets).
I think your children are at the perfect age to enjoy Epcot-- especially the 11 and 9 year olds. It would be a crime not to take them!!
One money saving tip is to watch your meals and snacks. Eat breakfast in your room, and eat "fast food" for the duration of your trip if you're on a really tight budget. You should find enough variety in the counter-service food choices to keep you satisfied (especially in Animal Kingdom and Epcot, where you'll find some of the best cheap places to eat).

| | | All ABC/Disney employees (and their spouses) get some sort of employee discount, whether it be a set of free passes or a Silver Pass card that gets them (and a set number of guests) free days at the park. They also get a percentage discount (20% to 35%) on lodging, purchases and meals based on their rank.
Find one.
1) Take them along.
2) Get them to "cover" as much as possible
3) Or if you look similar, be them for a few days. (And pay in cash)
When I changed from employee to spouse, I didn't bother obtaining a spouse ID because, well, I have no plans to buy any Disney product or visit Disney theme parks. |

| | Just lock yourself in your basement and rent all the Disney classics and watch them on your VCR/DVD player. Have your neighbors dress up in Disney character costumes. Get one of those recliners that are on a swivel so that they spin, send the kids 'round and 'round and 'round. Get a CD that plays, "It's a Small World After All."
It'll be just like Disney World. It'll be much, much less expensive. |

| | Oh but there is that place in Disney, I think it's called Mom's Kitchenette or something like that, that is soooo much fun. The guy at the bar pretended he was our dad. When we were seated, our waitress pretended she was our little sister, and since we were coloring (two twenty somethings, lol) she was coloring along with us. I don't remember what we had for lunch, but we both enjoyed it. For dessert we had an order of smores. We also went to another restaurant in Disney and had peach melba for dessert. OMG, I have never had it before or since, but it was to die for! I'd rather stay in a Motel 6, personally, and save money by staying in a cheap motel than to skimp on the food, but that's just me. PS, I found the Disney fast-food to be unedible.
To tell the truth, the Disney passes were the most expensive part of our trip. And we were just two college kids vacation-hopping between Kiawah S.C. and Disney, and back to Kiawah. Neither one of us had a lot of money, but we pulled it all off in style.
(Side note: anyone looking for the best vacation place of all-time, try Kiawah in S.C., especially for families. Be prepared to rub elbows with very rich but very hospitable people though.) |

Personally, I don't care for this place very much because I don't enjoy being "picked on." But if you like that sort of thing, I'm sure it's a good time! |

| | We have to go to Disney just once so Mr. Eisner can earn his billion dollar bonus this year, and we can go into dept.
I want to take my kids just once. My mom and dad live in Lake Mary fl. So if we really wanted to we could skip the whole hotel stuff all together. But I think that is part of the whole magic of Disney. |
