Those pesky journalists in Pakistan are in trouble

http://www.msnbc.com/news/694028.asp

This is breaking news... a Wall Street Journal reporter has been kidnapped and will be killed within 24 hours and all other western reporters are being warned to get out.

Damn... that means the subscription price is bound to go up.

Know when a reporter is a good friend? When you're out drinking with them and say "Mullah Omar rejected my turning you in for $25K on the grounds that he only wants Western Journalists, not local news reporters."

Yeah, I saw this yesterday. The paper pointed out at that time that they have no control over government policy. I think this guy is in some serious trouble. I remember hearing also that they have accused him of being a CIA agent, which the CIA has already denied.

I think yesterday their demands had something to do with the detainees. I don't think these people are all that organized, sane, reasonable or trustworthy. This reporter is in big trouble.

I think there might be more to this story than meets the eye. I was watching "Good Morning America" or some such nonsense this morning, and they were analyzing the email that the Pakistan captors had sent.

Apparently there are are "westernisms" in the letter that sound odd coming from foreigners like this (I think "I don't give a damn" was one of them).

Secondly, they spelled some difficult words correctly, yet horribly mispelled "america" throughout the letter.

Thirdly, did anyone see the interview with the wife? She didn't really seem all that surprised about this....

Strange.
