| | We should pause a moment and reflect.
Although not of my party, he remains one of the more effective and justly loved leaders of the past century, hated - when hated - not for his faults, but for his virtues, and hated, when hated, by people whose hatred is a crowning glory and whose approbation would be a disgrace. His was a transformational presidency, and the world we live in now is, in large measure, to him what St Paul's is to Wren: If you seek his monument, look around you.
Happy birthday, then, to Ronald Wilson Reagan, 40th President of the United States.

I don't even know where to start in my reply to this one because every sentence I start to type I know will be roundly picked apart. So rather than try, I'll just leave my "wtf" smilie express my viewpoint, and hope someone more knowledgable and skilled at debate will take up the standard for my cause.

| | Not every current event needs to be picked apart or debated. So, happy birthday to the former President. :birthday:

| | No matter what your thoughts on the politics of RWR and NDR, no one deserves what they have had to put up with the last decade or so. I have a certain amount of inside information and it's tragic. The least we can do as a people is send good birthday wishes.

| | Definitely the most romantic of Presidents. And, certainly the best looking, in my mind.
Felt very safe when he was in office, as he was my generation's FDR.
There's something to be said for making it to 91, and I think they are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Always in my prayers, and a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, PRESIDENT REAGAN!!! |

| | My president-addicted 9 year old woke up this morning saying "It's Ronald Regan's Birthday!"
Before you think that's because the household sleeps, eats and breathes RR, let me tell you that he also woke up on McKinley's birthday saying the same thing.
Double:
Anyway, our morning before school was all about wishing RR a happy birthday. Politics aside, I have a tremendous amount of affection for the man, and I wish him all of the best he can possibly have.
Happy Birthday, President Regan.

| | When they played the RR recording of him quoting Lincoln in the Super Bowl preview, I almost jumped off the couch. The Great Communicator, indeed.
God bless President Reagan, and happy birthday.
