Snuggle bear toys recalled

http://cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml02/02105.html

I don't know what I'm going to do - Erin has the big one on the right as pictured at the bottom. (Was one of my freebies from a couple years back.) It is the only doll or animal that she has named at all - Kathleen, her own middle name. She loves that bear like crazy, although not as much as her brother loves his stuffed rabbit. But she is 3.5 already...ack! What to do!

I'd wean the child away from the stuffed bear with ever-increasing amounts of Tobasco sauce. That way, it's the kid rejecting the toy and not you taking it away from her.

Melanie,
Caution is needed, but that doesn't necessarily mean yanking the bear. Check the eyes and nose frequently for loosening. If you're worried about her sleeping with it, you might try sneaking in at night to remove it from her bed. If she's been chewing on it, my advice would be different, but most 3.5 year olds don't chew on stuffed animals.

Meantime, I'm going to go ask for that free fabric softener. I never let the kids have the bear -- It's MINE! I still want that fabric softener.

Judy's advice is great, but if you're still nervous, you might try cutting off the eyes and nose and "drawing" on replacements. You can tell Erin the bear had some plastic surgery.

Disclaimer: Take this advice at your own risk. I assume no responsibility whatsoever if your child is permanently traumatized as a result.

Oh! I feel for you!

My son lost his blue bear when he was 3.5, and it caused us many tearful nights (for both parents and son). I'm still heartbroken over it, though my son seems to have forgot him entirely.

I can STILL remember loosing my favorite stuffed animal when I was about 4-it's STILL tramatic. In fact, I'm possitive my MOM is the one responsable she never liked my favorite stuffy

I say let her keep the bear-if it were going to be a problem it would have been already~
