I was prepared for my son to answer "Nothing" every day after I asked him what he did in school that day. I'd ask, he'd answer, we'd carry on the great tradition that has lasted for generations.
He dutifully complied for the first few months that he was in school. I'd ask, "What did you do in school today? What lessons did you do?"
He'd say, "Nothing."
Life was good.
It was a tradition that was short-lived as the dear boy found it too dull. So he's changed the routine.
I ask, "What did you do in school today?"
He answers, "I stared at the floor."
For variation, he'll tell me how many times he stared at the floor. Mind, this is a child who couldn't stand still long enough to stare at the floor if he tried. But he sure gets a giggle out of telling me that.
I can only imagine what the next several years will bring!
