| | We actually do this sometimes (unknown to the target) with favorite sayings, slogans and the like.
We've nailed two or three people in long meetings that way. We call it NameGo. So if we were doing it for Amy, the day's contest would be called AmyGo and we would have words and phrases like "hack", "PHP" and "Shut the hell up, George". |

| | Oh I wish I had heard of this when I took my philosophy of ed class.
There were four of us in our class that were honors college students (ok, we were nerds), taking a class with "regular" students. The other students seemed to be able to pay attention. We found ourselves balancing checkbooks, and grading papers. What can I say, three hours of a guy trying to drill one point into our heads was too much for us.
My professor was a odd little old man. He was from Italy, and spoke with a fantastic accent. If he got excited, he would jump up and down. He used the same buzz words over and over again (educare, meeeeeeeeeaning, expound, etc).
It got to the point where us nerds would discuss the class (outside of class) and construct dialogues using Professor Grecco-isms. Then, we got creative.
I'm not sure how it happened. But one day we all threw some money onto the floor. We created lists -- always five items on the list. Say...
Expound
"Say this apiece of chalk, it is an egg"
Meeeeeaning
Educare
And the fifth item was always the same... "chalk". It meant "how long will it take before Professor Grecco is wearing chalk on his face or clothing."
So we'd all put numbers next to each word. "I'll go for 24 on 'meeeeeeaning'". It meant that the professor would say "meeeeeeaning 24 times". The person who got closest to the correct number would win the pot on that particular word.
We'd all keep track by making tally marks on our notebook. It made us look like we were taking notes too, so it was a good thing.
Eventually, most of the class was in on it too. It was great fun in the most boring three-hour without a break class I ever had! |

| | I used to do this in my office sitting all by myself. I could fill the entire board just listening to the guy who sat in the next office talk on the phone.

| | I sent the link to my husband for his boring staff meetings. He already has a version in his PDA, of course.

| | Two companies ago we used to play Buzzword Bingo a lot (that's what Dilbert calls it and what the Palm app is called). We'd take notes from a previous meeting and use them to seed the words for our bingo board.
We did it to a small extent at small meetings. Once a quarter there were all-company meetings. I'll never forget the first time we played at one of these meetings. One of the product managers - a company bigwig - jumped up in the middle of the presidents talk and screamed Bingo. I thought I was going to die from laughing so hard.
