| | Re Ebay and Yahoo team up | | Man, if Amazon crawls into bed with eBay/Yahoo, that could be an interesting battle against AOL/Google.
I honestly thought MSFT was going to try for a position in Yahoo as Google had with AOL.
Love, love, love the interaction between Yahoo and eBay. Content out of Epinons. Yahoo stores get featured on Shopping.com and Epinions. PayPal is the currency of choice everywhere (Yahoo behind PayPal makes that brand just BLOW UP) and the marketing might of them both (which is formidable) focusing on the same thing.
That was big even though there was no equity.
Here is the most interesting part though to me (are you listening, Sara?). Even with the alliance, eBay will continue to buy Google ads while upping its buy of Y. That's market power. Partner with one guy and say "Uh, look, I still have to buy from your competitor too"
I'm still waiting for Google to buy Gateway or eMachines. |

| | Re Ebay and Yahoo team up | | Gateway already owns E-machines. And it seems to be in a death throe right now (I always keep up with Gateway because it was my hubby's employer for the two years we lived in South Dakota.)
And why would Google want Gateway, anyway? |

| | Re Ebay and Yahoo team up | | Fraz, Google wants a hardware manufacturer because it wants to make Google-branded machines with its own OS and all of its partner software. Google intends to own the entire computer experience.
They will also buy at least one cable provider.
Companies in their death throes (like Gateway for years, really smart move with those stores) are perfect acquisitions. Everything is in place. Upgrade the equipment, crank up the marketing and go to town. |

| | Re Ebay and Yahoo team up | | Yep. And they want the whole end-to-end experience, not a distributor relationship.
Trust me. 18 to 24 months from now, we'll be talking about who bought the first Google-branded desktops. |

| | Re Ebay and Yahoo team up | | I keep hearing people say they think Google is trying to go head to head with Microsoft in future. I think they are trying to go head to head with Apple, myself. |

| | Re Ebay and Yahoo team up | | Wait no longer for the Google music. They cut an enterprise-deal with Dell today. That's before they buy a consumer maker. Quote: |
Dell Inc. said Tuesday it had reached a deal to supply Google Inc. with customized computer servers the search engine company will sell to corporate customers.

| | Re Ebay and Yahoo team up | | Spreadsheet is good for basic stuff. Google is going to be the power company of the next two generations. I'm beginning to wonder if they're a buy again. | | |
