My Go-To Place is closed!
Someone told me early on that in business, you need to have a go-to spot - a place that is convenient to your office, serves both lunch and dinner, has a good menu, is quiet enough to talk in, and where the service is good. Once you find the spot, you go there often enough and tip well enough and learn the people's names and stuff to become a valued customer. Then, whenever you have to do a business lunch (or have an emergency need for a table for, oh, 15), you've always got a place to rely on - with the bonus of impressing the business associates you're with.

the owners of my go-to place retired!!!

And for me, it was also like a "Cheers" sort of place where I could go by myself if I were so inclined, 'cause I would always know someone there on the staff and there would always be a regular or two to hang out with...
Sigh. Now I've gotta scope out the area to find a new place.
