Actually, I think I fail any time I'm about to post a link. I put the link in and then glance up thinking I've done the subject line. |

Google Base to take out eBay, GDrive to get the desktop, GBuy (which has been known for months) to go for PayPal.
That's why eBay is so ticked at Google. They have an ambivalent but symbiotic relationship since so much advertising occurs between them.
Gbuy's killer piece is the way they have bundled in AdWords. If you are an AdWords subscriber and and use GBuy, you get credits that could take your fee down to nothing. I'm betting that eBay starts changing the pricing structure on PayPal when used for eBay auctions to counter.
We're looking at Gbuy as an alternative. |

| | I know that as soon as it's possible, I'll have it hooked up so GBuy can be a payment option here. Choice is a good thing.

| | Here's the thread where we talked about it before: http://www.eaforums.com/forums/curre...google%2C+ebay
Unfortunately, the MyWay article referenced in the thread has disappeared now.

| | Ooo, there's something I've never seen before: a password "strength" indicator to let you know if your chosen password is a good one or not. Neat!

| | It's not $5 (or the points) directly in your account, it's after the first time you shop using that card through your Gbuy account. Deceptive.

| | Okay, I misunderstood. This is still not a PayPal-like money site. This is strictly a new way of buying stuff, where you're going through Google to do it. Other than the coupons (which are to attract folks to this new business) and the unspecified rebate the article mentions, I don't see the point.

| | It looks more like Yahoo Wallet for buyers and an easy-to-manage credit card acceptance system for sellers. |

| | Yep, but still has the seller credits. You are going to see every Mom & Pop site that uses PayPal offer both now if the small site is also buying AdWords because of the credit AdWord customers get. From what I"ve seen, I can take our transaction fees to a fraction of what they are.
So Google gets the small sites to do its marketing work for it, and like always, relies on viral. |

| | Right, but for itty bitty folks like me who use PayPal for eBay, it really doesn't do me a bit of good, and there's no point in using it. |
