Online Crafts Selling Site

I don't know if I came across something here or elsewhere and I cannot find it.

But, there once was a craft selling site that did not charge a monthly fee or annual fee. You listed items and they would just take a service charge or fee (kind of like Ebay).

Does anyone know this site?

I cannot recall the name, but all of them that pull up on google are not what I am looking for. (If memory serves, it might have been a beta site, but I am not 100%).

I am trying to help a relative that is VERY talented but hurting for money especially with the holiday season coming up.

Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions.

(I also am not sure if this is the right topic, please move it if it belongs elsewhere. Thanks.)

Re Online Crafts Selling Site

Kim, tell your friend that etsy is the place, but it sucks, to be honest.

Having any success selling is REALLY hard. And many of the folks who were selling beautiful things are now selling nothing more than supplies (i.e., yarn, findings, etc.,) because finished work doesn't move so well.

There are a few folks who have been very successful, but the ones I've talked to were maniacs in pimping of their sites via etsy forums and other outlets. Message boards are full of threads bemoaning "I have an etsy shop, why am I not selling anything?"

I haven't had any success on etsy other than a place to showcase my higer end stuff (and maybe that's part of why...I've also heard grumblings that most of the things that sell are under $15), and I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade or disuade your relative...it IS possible to be successful, it just takes a lot of work and luck. I seriously hope he/she can make it...please post the link if they decide to set up a shop!!!

Re Online Crafts Selling Site

The feeling I got when I went to Etsy, was 1. it was too hard to find exactly what I wanted, and 2. most of the people on the site are people who are trying to sell their stuff, it's not going to draw enough of the people who want to buy the stuff because it's not well marketed. If you're a creative type, you might already know about it. I don't think too many average joes know about it (unless they have creative friends who they are supporting).

I am trying. My family is into karate now & I am doing a 10 week cardio class. It doesn't leave a lot of time.

My thyroid was out of whack and I was so exhausted by 7:30 - 8:00, that all I wanted to do was crash!

I am getting better and getting more time out here. Slowly but surely, some of the life I once knew is returning!
