| | hope you don'd mind.
But, Citi group SUCKS big time. They just had huge layoffs at my hubby's work last Wednesday.
They tell everyone else that they made it through.
Well, 10:30 CT today, they did a second huge layoff, my hubby's officially out of a job.
Happy freaking holidays to the many citi group employees this is happening to around the world.
Thanks!
vent off.

I'm so sorry! They always seem to do this at the holidays.
I hope that at least he got a good severance package, and that he finds something soon. It's painful, but these things do work out. |

| | I am just appaled that they just laid off people 4 days ago in his location & then come back 4 days later. We expected as much sometime, but when they just laid off 4 days ago, we expected a little more time than that.
Oh well, it is what it is.

| | It's horrible the way they go about it at times. Give you the feeling that everyone left is safe and then come back for a second round. I know it must have been a horrible shock, and it hurts, but try to make the best of it. I hope something better comes along soon.
Don't let it ruin your holidays. You have more "family" time now, so let him look for a great opportunity and enjoy the extra time you can spend together. |

Think of it this way... it's most likely that your husband and whoever was in the later round were people that management were fighting to keep... and after the first round, the higher-ups said "You still have to do MORE."
However, we ARE looking for a new bank... we'll keep Citibank out of the running. |

| | Four days can make a big difference when it breaks across a calendar month - the others were laid off 11/30, your husband was laid off 12/3; that can mean an extra month of health insurance/COBRA, etc. Still sucks though.

| | Sorry this happened to you and your husband. Layoffs just suck. And it's especially bad to think you've dodged one, only to get hit with the slip just days later.
It's a little bit like those cheap "cat scare" moments in some horror films when they scare you with a cat jumping out at the hapless victim, then as soon as the audience has breathed a sigh of relief, down comes the knife! Except there it's intentionally more emotional.
I got caught in a layoff at Raytheon years ago; I remember how I felt. To cheer me up, my wife got me a card that said "Congratulations on your retirement!" Her sense of humor helped me a lot.

They have 24hour/7 day a week live customer service, great rates for CD's and the like and allow priviledge status ATM usage w/out fees.

I love that idea. I was thinking of something, but I wasn't sure what would work. I wasn't wanting a sympathy card, but something light-hearted. Something like that would fit the bill.
Mind if I steal that idea?

That is true. Every little bit helps, doesn't it. | I have to say this has been a wonderful bonus for Citi group in that they were able to spin it so nicely in the paper.
Well, we laid of 56 in the local Des Moines area and the last layoffs were "last month".
Makes it sound tremendously better that way, rather than 4 business days prior they laid off workers.
Thanks again all for your kind words!
