| | Anyone here a member of LinkedIn? | | Hey everyone. I'm trying to help a few friends obtain jobs. I have been a member of a networking website called LinkedIn for several months, and while it didn't help me to get a job, I know that it works for others.
If anyone is a member of LinkedIn and you'd be interested in joining my network, could you please let me know?
If you don't want to, that's fine, too. No hard feelings... like I said, I'm just trying to help out a couple of friends.
Thanks,
Jeff/poseidon |

| | Re Anyone here a member of LinkedIn? | | Thanks Melanie,
I just sent you a request to join my network. I truly appreciate your help. One of the people I am trying to help is Michelle's cousin who just graduated with a Masters of Finance in Creative Writing. You might just know someone who would be able to help her!

| | Re Anyone here a member of LinkedIn? | | I can try to make this easier... because to send an invitation to join my network, I need the email address you are registered there with. So, rather than sending out a bunch of PMs, maybe I can cut out a task.
So, I'm on there as Jeffrey Schwartz, my e-mail is poseidon33@msn.com.
BTW, I'm trying to find jobs for writers, marketing professionals, advertising/copywriting and medical.

| | Re Anyone here a member of LinkedIn? | | Hawgwyld--www.epinions.com/user-hawgwyld--is a journalist with the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal. He's written a gazillion Epinions--I know him a little bit, as does Joubert.
His newspaper is part of the Stephens Media Group, which owns a number of newspapers in the South. Of course, NW Arkansas is one of the fastest growing areas, economically, in the country.
(Oops, his profile page says he now does public relations in Little Rock, but he probably still has some good connections.) |

| | Re Anyone here a member of LinkedIn? | | I think I'll pass on that offer, but thanks.
FWIW, yesterday as we were driving down I-35 to get back home (holy crap we went from Baraboo WI to Denver in 15h45m!!!!) we passed Mike Huckabee's and Fred Thompson's tour busses.
I did tell Michelle that I was willing to take one for the team and would try to run HRC's bus off the highway if we saw it. I'm not sure if she thought I was joking or not... |

| | Re Anyone here a member of LinkedIn? | | All this talk about LinkedIn reminded me I need to update my profile.
I currently work two jobs. I have one that is full time (and I would like most prominent) and one that is part time.
Currently my profile shows the part-time job first.
Do you know what determines the order? It's not the order of which I posted them, because, until today, it appeared correctly, and I've updated both entries.
Help me get my primary job first! |

Help me get my primary job first! | It goes by dates. So, if your part-time job started at an earlier date, it would list that one first. |

| | Re Anyone here a member of LinkedIn? | | Nope. My full time job started in 2002, my part time started in 2007... My part time comes up first.
Date might be the determining factor in the case of jobs that are not "to present." When both are "to present" it must be something else. |

| | Re Anyone here a member of LinkedIn? | | I think I screwed up... it is the most recent job that is listed first. I just checked my own profile. Since the PT is the most recent, it lists it first.
Make sure your headline (you can manipulate that in your profile settings) has your current FT position on it. |

| | Re Anyone here a member of LinkedIn? | | No, it's a valuable part of my networking for me to have it there.
I just worry someone from my "real job" will see it and say "why would she put that first?" and feel threatened by its presence. But, I guess even the owners know about my second job, so, no one should feel too threatened. |

| | Re Anyone here a member of LinkedIn? | | I thought about that when I took this position. I simply unchecked that I was looking for a job. Since much of my business relies heavily on networking, LinkedIn is a natural choice as well.
Moreover, I have developed a good friendship with my boss, we're pretty open about stuff with each other, and he knows about the stuff I do on the side and that it won't compromise my position there. | | |
