Business Trip

So if you're looking for me, I'll be at our organization's annual meeting. You know, the one in the terrific resort on Lake George. If it seems like I'm gone an extra long time, that's because this year my CEO, in his infinite wisdom, decided we needed to have a staff meeting at the resort the day BEFORE the agency representatives arrive. You know, brainstorming and bonding time. On the veranda over after-dinner drinks.

Have I mentioned lately how much I love my job????

OMG, rough isn't the word. It's 72 and sunny. And I finished my flatware set and bought some necessary clothing at the outlet malls at prices that made shopping near-painless.

LOL, yes I bought shoes. I bought some leather flip-flops at Bass, because I remember the pair of Bass I bought when I was 17 that lasted me for like 5 years. And I bought ankle boots because I spent all past winter praying it wouldn't snow because I didn't have any decent boots. I don't think I lost any shoes though. But I did split two bottles of wine with two other people and had a lot of bites of chocolate desserts and an amaretto. (oh and the first bottle of wine was during the staff meeting on the veranda at sunset, the second was over the staff dinner.) I heart my job

Every silver lining has its cloud - not only is my room about as far from the main building as you can get without getting into a canoe, but at 8am I discovered the room next to mine contains a couple and their 4 children, all under the age of 5. And the dad of the family is one of the executive directors of one of our member agencies so I have to grin and bear it. BTW, I made this discovery when the kids woke up and started running around, pounding on doors, screaming, giggling, and squealing at a high pitch and volume. Which was just what I wanted after an alcohol-laden evening.

Yeah, it sucks being me sometimes But after the hellacious spring I had, I don't mind this trip, even though right now I'm in an incredibly boring forum on Medicaid fraud.

OMG they moved me to a new room. It has a kitchen and a huge bathroom and two tv's and a sitting area and a dining area and a porch. Most of which I won't be using at all but boy oh boy this would be a nice room if Hubby and I were here for vacation (like a) he would come up here or b) I would spend this kind of money).

OK, so I'm back in the office and Mr. Cent is apparently trying out new songs, and they've managed to fix the amps so the volume doesn't go to 11, it goes to 14. Office manager sending us home. So for those feeling jealous, know that the relaxed veranda feeling is entirely gone now.
