Test your phishing IQ

Can you spot the bogus emails designed to swipe your passwords?

http://survey.mailfrontier.com/survey/quiztest.html

28% of Internet surfers CAN'T, according to studies.

I thought I would be able to recognize all scams, but I missed three. I think I would have done better in context though because I would know that certain bank or credit card emails had nothing to do with me because I don't have accounts with them.

Re: Test your phishing IQ

Very interesting. I got 9 of 10 right. And, for the one I missed, at least I erred on the cautious side. I was too suspicious of one that was legit.

Re: Test your phishing IQ

I got one wrong as well - like Sara, I chose fraud for one that was legitimate. .

Re: Test your phishing IQ

It's easier to spot them in context. I've never gotten a legit email that said "dear ebay customer" or "dear paypal customer" or "dear bank customer" -- they are always personalized.

The scams often don't have the right email addy at the top either.

Re: Test your phishing IQ

7/10. I would have been scammed on all three that I missed.

Good quiz, however.

Re: Test your phishing IQ

I got 7 of 10. I would have been partially hurting and partially erring on the cautious side.

That was an interesting little test!

Re: Test your phishing IQ

9/10. I missed the Earthlink one. I haven't seen it, but I can usually tell from the links. Did y'all see link information?

Re: Test your phishing IQ

7/10 but I never respond to stuff like that anyway. any legit site would announce stuff like that on their main web page so I just go there.
