I'd be interested in the phone if I didn't have to give up Verizon service. Nothing else has service consistantly out here. |

| | Re I Was Bad, and I'm Not Sorry | | Yes. I've had Cingular all along because I get very good coverage here with it.
The gods got even with me for this purchase though. I stopped and got it at the King of Prussia Mall near work on the way home. Got it home (50 miles away) and activated it. Tried to use it, and the phone had no sound except through the headphones. Had to call Apple to make sure it wasn't operator error, then had to drive back to King of Prussia to exchange it.
They were able to test before I left the store because I had already activated and all they had to do was swap out the sim card.
It's GORGEOUS. I am pretty decent with the virtual keyboard and love having maps and such available.
I used Edge in the mall parking lot to see how google maps would come up, and it was surprisingly fast. I was ready for it to feel miserably slow. On Wifi, it's like using my laptop - just smaller.
A couple of things I don't like. It's not really intuitive to save a phone number quickly like it was on my razr. I'm sure I'll get used to the new way of doing things soon.
I hate the earbud headphones because my ears are too small for them to fit properly. I'll probably buy in-ear ones as soon as they come up with them for the iphone (with the button to switch over to a phone call included)

I know it's like a phone, ipod, movie theater, mini computer all in one. Does that cover it? |

| | Re I Was Bad, and I'm Not Sorry | | Thanks, Leslie.
Wormie, the iphone is a phone and an 8 gig video ipod. It can also surf the web via my cell service or wifi.
Many people with advanced phones knock the iphone for some features it's missing. It has no gps. It uses edge and not 3G, which is faster for surfing the net. It has only a 2 megapixel camera.
But, Bob's phone died Thursday and I have been drooling over this phone because it's much better than my razr. The iphone makes it easier for me to send text messages and email. Furthermore, the iphone's edge modem is a faster edge modem than my razr's. So, using Edge has not been the torture I expected,
It isn't better than the really good phones out there like the Nokia N95, but it is a heck of a step up for me.
Today, we went to York to take Bob's brother out to the movies. He hasn't left the nursing home except to go to the hospital for years. We just found out that the nursing home would transport him and us to just about anywhere we want to go if we give them 2 weeks notice.
So, we told my brother in law to work on getting healthy and we would go see a movie. And, we did just that My iphone was actually a cool part of the experience.
When we got to the nursing home, Bob asked for a local paper to look up movie times. I whipped out my iphone and got the next showings of movies we were interested in.
Then, when we were out, I was able to take some pictures of Michael and how happy he was. With my razr, I always had trouble getting pictures from my camera to my computer because it would only do it via bluetooth. And, the pictures it took were crap. Now, my pictures sync right up via itunes.
And, I can share one here:

| | Re I Was Bad, and I'm Not Sorry | | Ah. See, I have the 3G RAZR. Which I have to use fairly frequently to get online. I went back and used G's RAZR today and finally made him look something up for me before I threw it across the room. I'm going to wait for the next gen or so. |

I was curious about the iphone because there was so much hype, but I didn't really pay much attention because its not my thing. My cell phone doesn't even have a camera! (I really need a new cell, but the iphone is out of my budget). I don't think I need a camera or much of the web stuff, but I do think it's really cool that you can look up that sort of info from your phone.
But, Amy, do NOT try this with yours!!! |

| | Re I Was Bad, and I'm Not Sorry | | Amy's new iphone? $500 on Mastercard. The happiness Amy's BIL experienced that day captured by Amy's new iphone? Priceless.
There are somethings money can't buy. For everything else there's Mastercard. |
