What to do about AVG 8?

I thought I was doing myself a big favor by installing this, since I kept getting messages that 7.5 would no longer be upgraded. Big mistake. Now, how to get rid of the sucker? I've tried to uninstall it twice, since I have Adaware now. I would love to have 7.5 back again, but I don't see it on the AVG website. Any advice?

PS My sister has the same problem, and her laptop is running so slow that it is half the speed of my typing, and the cursor keeps freezing.

You need both - Adaware isn't made to take care of viruses like AVG. Go to download.com to find the freebie version of 8 - it's nearly impossible to find on the Grisoft site. It took hubby nearly half an hour to find it.

SuperAntiSpyware is a great new one, as well.

What does Adaware have to do with uninstalling AVG?

I use avast on a couple of PC's in my home. Seems solid, gets decent reviews.

Comodo's firewall gets good reviews, I've been meaning to try their free AV but never tried it yet.

Hmm, I just d/l'd AVG 8 the other day and everything seems to be going swimmingly. Wonder why it would work for some and not others?

What kind of processor, and how much internal memory are on the computers?

7.5 is still giving me updates. I don't know when they will cut it off.
