| | Running Windows on a Mac desktop | | Shane has an iMac desktop, but he's taking a CIS course and needs to run Office 2007. He doesn't want to buy another computer right now, so if he installs Parallel, what kind of Windows does he need? And can he get by with the Windows Vista upgrade program that is on the college website or do I have to buy another full version of Windows somewhere?

| | Re Running Windows on a Mac desktop | | I used a full version of Windows XP that I had at work. I'm not certain an upgrade version of Vista would work. A full version will for sure though.
Does he specifically need Office 2007? Office 2008 for the mac can read Office 2007 files, and isn't very expensive at all.

| | Re Running Windows on a Mac desktop | | He already has Office 2008 installed, but his CIS teacher told him that he had to use Office 2007 for the class. I have Office 2007 installed on my laptop and I'm hoping the EULA will allow me to install it on a second computer so that I don't have to buy another copy of that too.

| | Re Running Windows on a Mac desktop | | LOL, he's up and running with a brand new copy of Vista. Not without a few problems, including a call to Microsoft tech support (his review: excellent support) and 2 hours on hold and talking with an Apple rep (his review: much profanity and some slight property damage).
He said the Parallel software was excellent - he can run Mac and Windows programs side by side on his monitor, dragging text from one program to another.

| | Re Running Windows on a Mac desktop | | Parallels is a wonderful thing. Dual boots just aren't practical for me. Being able to run both side by side when necessary makes using my mac at work possible.
